Caller: What's the deal with Anderson and the drops? 'Cause the show is really boring now.

Adam: Oh. Our program director from Los Angeles [Kevin Weatherly] told him to stop it. He tells him to stop it like once every six months, and then Anderson slowly starts working 'em back in.

Caller: And then he gets a little too mean and they cut him off again?

Adam: Well, then Anderson gets a little finger-happy and does too many of 'em, and then the program director wants to know what's wrong with the show [starts laughing] and he always blames Anderson and his drops!

Anderson: You're gay.

Caller: You're fat.

Adam: I miss 'em too.

Caller: Well, get 'em going again.

Adam: Yeah, I know. I just... You know, here's the deal: I don't want to talk to the guy, I don't want to argue with him. You know?

Caller: I didn't even know you guys had upper management there. You never hear any kind of oversight.

Adam: We don't. We don't. Here's what happens: Once a year, maybe twice a year -- and I worry about talking about this stuff on the air, 'cause I don't want to have one of these meetings tomorrow, but...

[Guest Leslie Hope laughs.]

Drew: Oh, you'd better plan on it.

Adam: Here's what happens to this show. This show kinda runs itself. Not... doesn't run itself well, it just runs itself well enough. And all the management, everyone goes to bed at like nine-thirty, or they watch "24", they do whatever. They don't listen to the show. So no one really knows what's going on. But then, once a year...

Drew: They listen.

Adam: ...somebody decides, "Look, we gotta do something."

Drew: No no, they listen, they go, "Holy Christ! What's going on here?"

Adam: Yeah, they listen! They listen, and they go, "Oh my god, Adam's telling another home improvement story. This has gotta end." So then they call us in and we have a meeting about what we're going to do, and I say, "Look, you're right, you're right, you're right." Then we go back to what we're doing.

Drew: "You're right. You're right. We need more bowling pins in the ass. You're right."

Adam: Yeah, more bowling-pin-in-the-ass questions, right. And stop talking so much, which is usually my note. So, and then they say, "Tell Anderson to quit playing all those drops." So Anderson does that. And then that lasts a few weeks, and he starts trickling them back in.

Caller: Okay.

Adam: So Anderson, listen, go ahead and play him sparing, play the top ten.

[Anderson inserts the droplet drop.]

Adam: Thank you.
