Dr. Drew was once a lifeguard in Laguna Beach:
Adam: Drew was a Newport Beach guy, right Drew?
Drew: Laguna.
Adam: Laguna? Your parents had a... What'd they have, a vacation house out there, or a summer house?
Drew: Yeah. My wife's from Laguna -- from Newport. So that's my old territory.
Adam: Drew, you'd go out there and spend the summers lifeguarding?
Drew: Yeah.
Adam: Would you be on the beach?
Drew: Yeah.
Adam: And what'd you do? Did you have a tower? Did you sit up on the tower?
Drew: Yeah. Yeah, yeah. No, I pulled people out, like, every day. Pulled people out.
Growing up, Adam knew tomorrow's guest, porn star Christy Canyon. He went on a date with her older sister, and later, Christy herself:
Adam: Christy Canyon, legendary porn star, in here tomorrow night. [Anderson plays the "Owww!" drop.] Yeah. I'm into her. I've uh...
Dr. Bruce: ...seen a few of her films.
Adam: [Laughs.] Just a couple! Also, I knew her growing up. Or, actually, her sister asked me to the Sadie Hawkins dance. Yeah. Junior high.
Dr Bruce: So what city did you... what high school did you go to?
Adam: North Hollywood High.
Dr. Bruce: Yeah, that's better than Riverside, of course... [unintelligible]
Adam: Marginally. And then, I asked her out when I was, like, eighteen or nineteen or somthin'. But, she dumped me. [Laughs.] Couldn't even get a porn star to go out!
