Tuesday, October 21, 2003 at 12:02 PM A question that often comes up on this forum is, "What was the song that played when they were coming back from commercial...?" As all hard-core "Loveline" fans know, these transition pieces are called "bumpers". I have just added a "Bumpers" section to the "Sound" area of this site. (See link below.) This collection is by no means complete; I'll be adding more clips as time goes on. I invite everyone to play "Name that Bumper!" If you know the name of the song and the artist for a given bumper, simply post a follow-up below. —Silent Virgin |

Sunday, July 11, 2004 at 5:38 PM Speaking of Modest Mouse (from a post about 2 months back), now they've been playing "The Ocean Breathes Salty" off their new album alot too! I got into Modest Mouse about 5 years ago when I picked up their album "The Lonesome Crowded West." Great stuff! "Float On" has been getting a good bit of airplay on 93X in Memphis, and they were playing it all the time on one of the Orlando radio stations (that also played Loveline) when I was down there in late May. I figure this must mean that "Ocean" must be the next single, but they haven't started playing it here yet. —loubat |

Saturday, September 11, 2004 at 3:27 AM So let's help out the silent virgin and do all the legwork on updating the 'bumper' section so that it would be easy to copy / paste our work over there and update it since she has no time recently and is lagging (rightfully so! work is more important the hobby of loveline). so, check out the format of the 'bumper' section of the site: http://www.dolland.net/loveline/sound/bumpers/index.html what would be killer is for people to go through shows randomly. prob like 1 per month? for all of 2004. just cruise it through and cut / make mp3 snippets of each bumper. you can see a few from 2004 have been made already, but we need to make clips of the recent ones. So maybe upload the clip to the DC+, or just e-mail silent virgin yourself and upload / e-mail it to her. also when you post your clip post the artist / song name if you know it, or just post the clip and the rest of us will try and match it up.. also any notes regarding the song / relation to loveline should be included. also, if anyone is too lazy, i'd be happy to go through and cut out the bumper clips myself, just post like 1-2 shows from each month of 2004 to a public downloadable FTP or http site (i still haven't figured out the DC hub) and i'll download / cut / research, etc ... let's update the 2004 bumpers section! it always is good to keep that up to doate with anderson always bringing in new tunes and all. thansk for the help! Thursday, July 21, 2005 at 1:24 AM Has anyone notice that Anderson "happens" to pick bumbers from bands Adam claims to hate? He played Rich Girl and Feel Good Inc. in a row tonight and i wondered if that was a coincidence. Since Adam notoriously hates Damon from the Gorillaz and put a curse on Gwen Stefani, good stuff. one of anderson's favorites to use is the Dead 60's - Riot Radio. I can't remember any more that haven't been mentioned. —Stryker311 |

Thursday, July 21, 2005 at 3:23 AM oh and one more band, Carolla has commented that he doesn't like Rivers Cuomo from Weezer, and Anderson always plays the bumper from Perfect Situation by Weezer. —Stryker311 |

Thursday, July 21, 2005 at 3:25 AM okay last comment, and sometimes he plays Beverly Hills by Weezer as well. Anderson is just keeping his and Adam's love/hate relationship alive. —Stryker311 |

That one's been mentioned two or three times, so, technically, you have remembered zero that haven't. I'm not sure if he plays bands Adam dislikes on purpose or not, but he also plays bands Adam likes, such as System of a Down. —chix0r |

Friday, July 22, 2005 at 7:45 PM *sigh* I don't have a clip of this one, and this is and old bumper, but... Its one that has "Tink tonk tink ta ta tink tatata tink...* around the end of the bumper, after they usually start speaking. Kinda like that. Its an old one, and it's not modest mouse. Guitar before it, I guess. Sorry, can't describe music, and don't know how to get a clip... It would be awesome if someone knew what I was talking about. —CrusherEAGLE |

Friday, July 22, 2005 at 7:51 PM Sorry Stryker, but I doubt Anderson picks the bumpers. They're basically just recent releases from popular groups that get rotated out every three or four months. If he was picking, I guarantee there'd be a more eclectic mix of songs. Though I’m sure he does get some delight in finding out that hated bands like Gorillaz and Stefani are in the accepted mix. So, unless you have something more compelling than "trust me" to back it up, I just don't see it. —Beat It! |
