I'm not really supposed to drink in public anymore. When I have more than one drink I will molest the best looking guy near me...every single time.

I'm considering getting a fuck buddy. Can't I have a little fun before Mr. Right shows up? Maybe this guy is never going to show up.

I want to rape Mark Z. Danielewski right now. Probably tomorrow too. And the next day...

I'm pretty sure he's single. I don't think he'd mind that much.

my daughter suggested to me the other day that i start drinking red wine on a daily basis, you know, for the health benefits. i was like, whaaat, i may as well sign the divorce papers now.

Maybe we should become fuck buddies. But that would make it consensual sex, and that would be a whole other thread...

Everything is cool as long as we remember rape is not a sexual crime, but a violent crime where you cum at the end.

But how often does Andrea Dworkin come up in discussions on feminism today? Or even discussions by feminists today?
I've never really seen a problem with feminism. I mean, I've never studied it seriously but most of what I hear seems ok. Similarly, a lot anti-feminist arguments don't seem compelling at all.

there's a very high correlation between anti-feminist men and douchebag asshats who can't get laid or hold all women responsible for their shitty self imposed experiences with individual women. they really just need to be ignored, and luckily outside of newsgroups and internet forums that don't allow blocking, they mostly are.

Joe Rogan was the one shouting "straw man!" in that video yet he is also fixated on comparing rape to murder, as if one has to do with the other. There's definitely a logical fallacy somewhere in his argument, just not sure exactly what to label it.
1. Rape is "worse" than murder.
2. It's ok to joke about murder.
3. Therefore, it's ok to joke about rape.

I'm not saying it's ok to joke about rape or not, but his argument is critically flawed.

You can joke about ANYTHING in the right context.

I don't find suicide jokes very funny. But I respect the right of people to tell them.

I think he has a good point, even if it's not flawless logic. Comedy is comedy, if you don't like Daniel Tosh (I don't) then don't listen to him (I don't).

He has every right to say 'It's ok to joke about rape' and just leave it at that. But he didn't, he tried to come up with a reason why, which doesn't make sense. Which he also has the right to do, it just makes him look silly. I'm merely noting the fact that he's calling out someone for making a straw man fallacy within the larger fallacy of his rape vs murder argument that he himself set up. Now that I find funny.

Ehh... If I was writing a thesis on why comedians should be allowed to joke about rape, I would use a different argument. I can see why someone might think if X is "worse" than Y, and X is okay to joke about, then it should be okay to joke about Y. If I understand you, I think what you're getting at is murder and rape are both horrible but are "multi-dimensional" enough that it doesn't make sense to say that just because murder is overall worse that rape that it makes rape okay to joke about even if murder is okay to joke about.

That makes sense, but there's not really a science to "what's okay to joke about." Legally, I don't see an issue with it, and I hope no one thinks there should be legislation regarding what is and isn't comedy. So we're talking about an issue of social norms and cultural taboos.

The people attacking him are doing it largely based on a feminist neologism, "rape culture," that's seems to be capriciously applied only when a female victim is involved. Using Wikipedia's definition "Rape culture is a controversial concept used to describe a culture in which rape and sexual violence are common and in which prevalent attitudes, norms, practices, and media normalize, excuse, tolerate, or even condone sexual violence." But it's not supporting rape culture when a woman talks about how "fabluous" it is that a man had his penis cut off and put in a garbage disposal despite how normalizing, excusing and tolerating of sexual violence that may sound.

This isn't a science, there's no proof of what is okay or not okay to joke about, it's more of what what society will tolerate and people use a lot of empty rhetoric (e.g. "rape culture") and posturing to try and force their view of what is or is okay on everyone else. It's like the tyranny of hypoagency.

Jamie Kilstein also had some really fucked up response to it on another podcast.
