Apparently Jim Poorman Trenton (the creater of Loveline) is accusing Dr. Drew of doing coke back when he was a medical student. He has been bitter lately and has been lashing out at Mike and Dr. Drew on facebook and on his radio show. Of course I had to respond to him.
the following was posted as a comment on the loveline facebook page.
Psycho Mike, despite what you've heard about me, please be open minded. Dr. Drew will do to you what he did to me eventually. Count on it. You aren't any different than any other host who continues to use the show I created and made #1. The only difference is this time KROQ's ratings are suffering. You show might bite the dust. If I was back, Dr. Drew would have to "share" things such as his former cocaine use. I think that would make for "Fun On the Edge Radio". It also wouldn't hurt him to be honest and relatable for once. But then, remember we must always protect his reputation on air don't we. Has he made you his patient yet? Do you confide in him? That's his clever media plan. We all become his patients. Then he has you. Sound familiar Mike? Think about what I'm saying dude. I discovered this guy. Watch your back. He is not your Friend.
ooooo drama!

if it's really poorman writing this, then that's so pathetic.

Assuming this is the real Poor Man, does anyone really think any less of Drew because he may have done coke in the 80's? And by the way Poor Man, Drew obviously didn't hold back Rachtman or Adam by getting inside their heads. Hell, I think Adam got into Drew's head more than the other way around.

a) I would never take advice on addiction from someone who was never touched a drug, and b) does Drews alleged stimulant abuse explain his penchant for punching the microphone?
And c) what the fuck is Dr Spaz on then, bath salts?

It wouldn't bother me if I found out a doctor used weed. But coke or meth? Umm...yeah. It would kind of bother me.
I can't picture Drew doing coke. He likes being in control and control freaks rarely abuse drugs.

According to Wiki he has been accusing drew of doing cocaine since 2010. Whether drew did coke in his past is none of
Our business. An article appeared in Life and Style magazine. I don't like the fact that he makes it seem like drew or kroq owes him shit. No one owes this guy anything, he sued kroq for 40 million. Also whats the big deal of treating hosts like patients? That's something that comes natural to drew and i am sure it has helped adam and mike make better life choices. I would love to have dr. Drew diagnose me and offer me solutions 5 nights a week.
I am pretty sure its him. There's only one jim trenton thay used to work for kroq on facebook, unless someone is pretending to be an old 50 something year old, ugly disc jokey.

anyone noticed how much coke is used or referenced in movies these days?

Lena, I think poorman is saying that Drew finds out what is wrong with people and then holds that over their heads. Blackmail or whatever. I don't believe Drew is doing that. And I don't believe he did cocaine. He's just a doctor seeking fame and money right now.

I know that's his job. Diagnosis. I don't think he's using that to expose them, it's just part of the show format. As a host you have to be pretty open and live your life like a open book. Mystery doesn't work good in these types of shows. How lame would the show be if we didn't know much about Adam's life, or Mike's past.
Here's a podcast that he did.

I don't care if Drew did coke while he was in college or med school - It just isn't relevant. I do however agree with Poor Man with his attitude that Drew turns all of his co-hosts essentially into his patients. I'm not sure how or why Poor Man believes he was the impetus for the show becoming number 1 (maybe #1 in the LA local market) but it was Adam that propelled the show into a national, coast-to-coast program with dozens of affiliates.
In the 90's, Drew's attitude towards the callers was 'I can't make you start or stop any behavior. All I'm asking is that you consider the consequences of your actions before you act, and that you understand that you are ultimately responsible for your actions.'
These days Drew is bent on changing people into what he believes is his version of a moral pillar - Everyone do the 12 steps and you will be fine, better than fine in fact. Growing up in a wealthy Pasadena family, daddy a doctor, private school during the week and weekends at beach house - He can empathize with people but the older and more media exposure he gets, he is turning into a hairless Dr. Phil, essentially bullying people into what he thinks is the correct path as he sees it.
I personally have become sick to death of how he preaches the 12 step - Like everyone who gets through the steps transforms into a model human. A perfect parent that pays taxes, recycles, keeps their lawn up... I know lots of people who went through the program, now clean and sober (some for years), still go to weekly meetings, still participate in their recovery - Who are complete fucking pricks. Some of them were better people when they were using.
Admittedly - I've become cynical, but I would love to see a TMZ news maven saying that Drew found the pool-man banging the shit out of Susan. I would love to see his level of empathy after that. And although I can't stand him anymore, I would love to hear Adam make fun of Drew over it.
