Sandusky: he will probably kill himself after his conviction. Sometime late next year. I wouldn't be surprised if his wife helps him.

Bill Maher: I just hate the guy, that's why I put him there. All he does is talk about how much he hates Christians and Republicans. If it wasn't for Christians and the GOP he wouldn't have a career! The dude stopped being funny years ago. I used to be able to watch him and disagree with him without hating him. Now? He is just so slimey and smug. Puke!

acm

Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 9:50 PM

No shit, all political commentators wouldn't have a career without the opposing side. Glen Beck and Rush Limbaugh for example, and they take the cake for being slimy and smug.

stellagold

Agreed on the first point. I like Rush. I agree with most of what Beck says, but the guys bugs me, so I don't watch/listen to him.

Freestyle ski champ dies week after injury

[Updated at 4:44 p.m. ET] A Canadian freestyle skier who was seriously injured during practice in Utah last week has died, her family said Thursday in a statement released by her publicist.

Sarah Burke, 29, died Thursday morning at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City, where she had been treated for injuries she suffered during a training run at Park City Mountain Resort's superpipe.

Burke reportedly fell while trying a trick and "whiplashed" onto her side at Park City Mountain Resort's superpipe on January 10, officials have said.

Heard this story on NPR before the fatality update, questioned the "whiplashed onto her side" statement. Does that make sense?

Media soft touch? Of course, now that she's ultimately dead.

I'm off to whiplash into my kitchen and smoke a cigarette.

Not trying to be prickish, just hate that soft coated media shit. NPR didn't used to do it, now they're dipping everything in sugar too. She smashed her fuckin head. Edit the 'fuck' out of that statement and report it.

Have we ever come up with a ruling on points if a celebrity dies but is re-animated sometime during the same year? I know the technology isn't here yet, but it's coming.

Mayonnaise

if a celebrity dies and then is re-animated but then dies again all in the same year, that's 2 points.

Blockbuster comedy director Bobby Farrelly, who along with his brother Peter made Something About Mary, Dumb & Dumber and the upcoming The Three Stooges, has released a statement in the wake of his son Jesse's tragic and sudden death this week.

On Wednesday evening, 20-year-old Jesse Farrelly was deemed unresponsive by paramedics and taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. Though autopsy results have not yet been released, the 911 call reportedly referenced a possible overdose, and the family indicated in their just-released statement that the young man had been battling with unspecified substances.

I thought of him as being really old, but 82 isn't super old for dying. Mike Wallace was 93, now there's an old person. And he worked until he was like 89.

There are 4 reference notations after the phrase "Mike Wallace died" on his Wiki page, and it makes it looks like that's all it says. Mike Wallace died. That is all, nothing else to tell.

Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb has regained consciousness after slipping into a coma, according to the BBC.

Spokesman Doug Wright says Gibb is able to nod and communicate with his family.

The 62-year-old fell into a coma last week after contracting pneumonia. Gibb was hospitalized last year for stomach and colon problems. He has not specified the exact nature of his illness — widely reported to be cancer — but had told the BBC he had a growth on his colon removed.

News reports Friday said Gibb's children, wife, Dwina, and brother Barry, had been singing to him, in hopes of waking him from the coma.

Robin's twin brother Maurice Gibb died in 2003 due to complications from a twisted intestine. He was 53.

His younger brother Andy died of a heart ailment in 1988. He was 30.

Hailed as the "Godfather of Go-Go," Chuck Brown helped usher in a new sound of pulsing, beat-driven music from the D.C. area in the 1970s and '80s. Now, the go-go genre's biggest name is dead.

Tom Goldfogle, who managed Brown, 75, confirmed to WUSA, Washington's CBS affiliate, that the musician has passed away after suffering, in recent weeks, from poor health.

Brown was hospitalized last week while battling pneumonia and had to cancel several concerts because of his ailments.

Brown was perhaps best known in the mainstream for his No. 1 hit Bustin' Loose.
