Monday, February 2, 2004 at 8:46 PM Kevin is correct; the time zone is attached to the machine, not your personal user settings. I figured people are more moble than computers (unless it's a laptop or something). Not that "Loveline" fans are jumping on transcontinental flights all the time... I was also thinking of multiple users sharing the same machine, in which case the time zone would only have to be set once. It seems like the time zone should be something that the browser passes along to the server when making an HTTP request, or maybe there could be a <time> HTML tag, which would enclose time in GMT, which the browser would format according to the user's local computer settings... but -- alas! -- I am not in charge of the WWW design committee or whoever decides these things ;-) And as you can see, I can rearrange messages into different threads rather easily :-) | |
