i'm thinking of a new topic of conversation. what movies would you like to see get made, like from a book or show or whatever. orrrr what movies should be remade and with what cast? like if there was a bad movie and you got a chance to make it better who would you cast. get it? i can't think of one so someone else start.
Well the Xanth books came up in another thread and with the glut of fantasy type movies since LOTR, I'd think they'd be on the big screen in some form.
However, it's not that I really want to see these movies get made, but I'm surprised they haven't yet.
As far as Piers Anthony goes, I'd rather see an movie version of On A Pale Horse.

I'd like to see D. Manus Pinkwater's Lizard Music made into a movie.

OMG my boyfriend would totally less than three you. He loves Daniel Pinkwater. I think his favorite is the Avocado Jungle of Death or something?
edit: oops I combined the movie Cannibal Women and The Avocado Jungle of Death and the book... it's The Snarkout Boys and The Avocado of Death, apparently.
I'd like to see Resident Evil 4 made into a movie - rabid Eastern European villages would translate well to a horror movie.
I'd like to see good movies based on these books: Dune, The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, Magician and the next four sequels ending with The King's Buccaneer, the seven Harry Potter books, Dracula, several Dick Francis stories, The Haunting of Hiram C Hopgood, Gillian Rubinstein's Space Demons trilogy. The 1988 tv series and the recent movies of The Chronicles of Narnia are both good but neither are as good as the books and neither have embraced (thus far) The Magician's Nephew or The Horse and His Boy or The Last Battle. CS Lewis' Cosmic Trilogy would be sweet too. No-one's done House of Hell from the Fighting Fantasy series. Of all those books, it would be the best and most surprising choice to make into a movie.
I think you could make good movies from these video games: Doom, Abuse, Alone in the Dark, The Legend of Zelda, Metroid (Prime, specifically), StarCraft, maybe WarCraft (with StarCraft done there's maybe not much point in doing WarCraft too, plus the whole World of WarCraft thing has ruined the story fabric of that universe), Grand Theft Auto games, Super Mario Picross. Also Resident Evil 4 might be good too, yes. Oh, and The Dig. Oh, and Mortal Kombat. The world suggested by the still photos and text that would endessly loop while the arcade machine waited for someone to play was really evocative, particularly Mortal Kombat 3.
I kind of doubt anyone will ever bother but a movie based on the Warhammer 40,000 universe would be sweet. It's beyond the scope of just about anyone to do it successfully though.
I'd like to see the play Closer done again as a movie, right now, still with Clive Owen but replacing the other three actors with talented people. While I'm talking about Clive Owen, I wouldn't mind seeing a feature based on his character of The Driver from The Hire short film series. If they ever gave Clive Owen or John Cusack carte blanche as James Bond it would be so nice.
A bleak and violent sequel to The Craft would have been sweet. If done right it would get banned in all wealthy countries, even France.
There are dozens by dozens of other ideas I have for what I'd like to see in movies but outlaying them here would be pointless. I'd also like to see the Hollywood industry, both movies and tv, freeze right now like Evie from Out Of This World was real. Basically 99% of filming in North America should stop. Everyone pointing a camera should stop. Whether they're filming their kid tricycling down a driveway, a girl being comed on, stunt men fighting, fellow students trying to act, anything Hollywood, it should all just stop. People like Julian Schnabel and Quentin Tarantino are perfectly capapble of operating internationally anyway so it won't affect them.
