Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at 10:48 PM well i'm getting a bit drunk tonight, which spurred me to create this thread, name your favorite alcoholic drink, the ingredients for mixed drinks, and when and where you first tried it. to me there are two types of drinks, slow drinks and fast drinks; sippers and shooters. Sipper: maerzen beer, which i first tried at oktoberfest in muenchen when i was 13, right before i moved. Shooter: B-52(european style, from what i hear)first tried it at about 2 AM, new years day, 2008, in chiang mai, thailand 1/2 shot Kahlua 1/2 shot Bailey's 1/2 shot Cointreau great aftertaste —jizzgrenade |

Thursday, June 5, 2008 at 12:26 AM Long Island Iced Tea there's a bar here that mixes some brutally large (and tasty) LIIT's. They cut you off after two. I used to work at a college movie theater and we'd fudge the books so we could go and grab some after work on the theater's dime. We would get our two and the challenge would be to get that 3rd round which involved cornering another waitress or passing the slur test with the bartender. They never served us a 4th--I couldn't put the sentence together to order them —bguirk |

Liquor Drinks: • Long Island Tea (I too am a happy member of the Long Island Tea drinkers club; when we have our karaoke house parties, I make it in massive quantities to fuel the performances) • Dirty Bong Water (I learned this one bartending in Miami and it became an instant favorite) • Margarita on the rocks (Patron and Grand Marnier preferably with a splash of OJ) Shooters: • Red Death (It's a combination of an Alabama Slammer) • Red Snapper (Another good Crown Royal shooter for you airking) Shots: • Tequila • Tequila • Tequila Beer: • Harp • Blue Moon • Bass (If none of the above are possible, I generally go with Michelob Ultra/Light or Icehouse) —Beat It! |

Thursday, June 5, 2008 at 3:22 PM ^ If it's a pre-mixed liquor drink then yeah, that pretty much sums it up. All mixer, no liquor. Hey pookie, I've never actually made a sour with the egg white. The places I've worked didn't want to take the chance. We always just made them with the pre-made 'sour' mix or simple syrup/lemon juice. The best we could do for froth was the flash blender. I only had a couple of people request it or complain about during my tending years, but for the most part the egg has gone the way of the dodo. I need to try it sometime with the egg. —Beat It! |

Thursday, June 5, 2008 at 5:51 PM We're talking about unchecked aggression here, dude. when i made it, you couldn't taste the egg white, but i won't even take the chance anymore cuz diabetics are more severely affected by salmonealla, should i contract it. plus, it does strike me as gross. i don't know what i was thinking. Save for the added risk with diabetes, I wouldn't worry too much about it. As long as the eggs are intact, and you're careful not to contaminate the egg white by having it touch the outside when you remove it, you're pretty safe. Why do people waste perfectly good booze on mixers? Because perfectly good booze tastes perfectly awful to anyone who hasn't trained themselves to be able to tolerate it. —anobody |

Saturday, June 7, 2008 at 3:58 PM people don't pay thousands of dollars for a bottle of wine because it gets you extra drunk, it's cuz it's delicious. nah, people do that to make themselves feel good about themselves. it's a super self indulgent move to spend hundreds on wine, gives them a sense of power, wealth and importance. also, putting booze in food does not put the flavor over the top. you're going to improve that brat by dumping beer on it? doubtful. i've had all kinds of booze, and can list about a zillion things that taste better - soft drinks (pepsi, dr. pepper, cherry coke), tea (i like green tea with cinnamon and honey) and fruit drinks (not necessarily with high fructose corn syrup either - like V8 fusion, bolthouse farms' drinks) are not only more tasty, but easier going down. but we're talking about tastes. i expect variation and different opinions. —plurry |
