right after obama said his speech in St. Paul, he walked by the crowd that was behind him. Andrew was probably in the 4th or 5th row, and he had his hand extended out, and he was begging Obama to touch his hand.
It was funny, I was sitting there watching Obama greet his supporters after he gave his speech, and I see this guy with blonde hair, and I'm like wait a minute that guy looks familiar...oh shit it's andrew! Then I remembered that he's from minnesota, he met Romney and that's when everything clicked.
He's a Republican. Clearly some sinister plot has brewed itself within his red-state-loyal mind.
(By the way, does anyone else find it ironic that "red" used to be a color that evoked Communism, and now, at least in the US, it primarily evokes Republicans and American conservatism? Amusing.)
How old is this guy?! I don't trust young people that are really into politics. Hell, I don't even care about politics and I guarantee I pay more taxes than this scaramouche.
Hell, I don't even care about politics and I guarantee I pay more taxes than this scaramouche.
Um, you mean you think you pay more taxes than an 18 year old grocery bagger [I'm assuming] from Minnesota? Yeah I guarantee you pay more taxes than him too! What does that have to do with anything?

I didn't know he was an 18 year old grocery bagger! Most of the tax money I pay goes to bullshit I don't care about. So I should be out there trying to get the money go to bullshit I DO care about.
No, I was not in the crowd during the speech, I was in the stands. Me and the buddy I was with scrambled down when we saw he was mingling and worked our way in there.
You're like the 40th person to notice but I'm almost flattered someone from here picked up on it.
I have it taped on a old-school VCR tape, but I don't know if it's even possible to get it on here.
I have not come around...I spent most of the night in light-hearted debate with my friend, the raging Obamaniac. He was ragging on me for being there, and I kept insisting I didn't like the guy.
come A-Wag--join the Obama party. Do you really want to vote for a doddering old man who is on his 4th Cancer scare? What are the odds McCain calls the internet "The Information Superhighway" within the next 2 months?
I'm like so confused...what are the chances abm actually saw that? Who the fuck watches CNN? I mean he was on there for like 1 second I'm guessing, and CNN plays boring crap 24 hours a day, so what are the chances she was actually paying attention, saw it, AND recognized Andrew's mug among the thousands of people there? I was totally expecting him to say, "No, that wasn't me".

Ok on tuesday night I was watching CNN. First I saw Hilary's speech, then about 20 mins later, they broadcast Obama's speech. Then right after he finished, anderson cooper and the other political analyst started analyzing his speech while they were showing Obama greet the crowd behind him. All of the sudden this Blondie kid with a tan came out of nowhere and extended his hand out to Obama. It took me about 5 seconds to recognize him. If it wasn't for the prom pics, I would have never guessed it was him.
I didn't realize that Andrew W is embarrassed by the fact that he was there. I thought he was gonna come in here and create a new thread like "best graduation present ever" and post all of his Obama pics, just like he did with Romney.
It's not that I'm embarrassed I was there. Certainly not. I have openly admitted that I'd go see Barack, I'd go see Hillary, I'd go see McCain, I'd go see Ron frigging Paul. I'm just into politics, and this was a historical night so I figured why not go see someone who has a 50/50 shot at being the President of the United States. Hell, if Romney gets chosen as the Veep for McCain [and they win] I'll have a picture with the Vice President, and have shaken hands with the Democratic Nominee.

I'm into politics too, but I just don't need to see people in person any more. Allegedly I'll be working to help B.O. get elected, but when he was in town I didn't feel the need to join the other 70 thousand people who showed up. It's sort of like the NBA--I'd rather watch on TV. The last truly political thing I attended in person was some Michael Moore event and the ratio of funny to christ I'd love to leave material was much higher in the latter category.
McCain should choose him, so at least Americans will have the chance to elect a darkie. — adams_babymomma
Wait, isn't Barack a Darkie? What the hell. - andrewwagner777
Allow me to translate. I believe she's saying, since Obama is running on the Democratic ticket, if McCain puts a darkie on the Republican ticket as well then whichever candidate ultimately wins there will be a darkie in office.
yeah, well... if i'd remembered that sooner i wouldn't have spent ten minutes going through all your old posts trying to find it. i'm sick of plurry being considered the most creepy round here. when's it gonna be my turn, huh? fucking when!?
More like my opinion. I can't align myself with something like a political party. At least it's possible to serve in the Marine Corps with some dignity.
It probably cause she's older than him, and was his mentor before they married. McCain's wife is much younger, and probably a golddigger, or maybe Mccain is the golddigger since she has more money than him (?)
mccain just wanted some younger action after his old wife was mangled or something in an accident. i like to think that the clintons have a relatively real relationship even though bill has been known to be more open with his dick. they met when they were both young activists. will and jada have a real relationship.
bobby jindal aint gonna go for the VP spot...hes got too much work on his hands fixin our fucked up state...ron paul should be VP instead...a couple of old ass fucks in charge of the country...lol

will and jada have a real relationship.
If by real, you mean she tells his ass exactly what to do every second of the day, then yeah it seems pretty real. He is an A1 pussy-whipped bitch.
I don't think I could last more than fifteen minutes in a room with her. She seems like the type that is always on the attack about some oversight and probably mentions that she is a "strong black woman" two or three times an hour. She just seems incredibly insufferable and with no sense of humor about herself or culture.
Granted this is based on maybe two interviews that I've seen and her movie roles, but I really don't care to delve deeper into it. I'm satisfied with my appraisal.
Michelle Obama just comes off as a bitch. her comment about "never being proud of America" in her life up until now when her hubby was running for President was pathetic. Berlin Wall, World War II, never proud of your country? Move to iran, bitch.
I don't care if you aren't right now, pretty sure there have been plenty of things in the past 40 years to make you proud to be an American. If not, get the fuck out, move to fucking Iran, and then see if you can find anything to be proud of.

He makes a good point, the "move to iran" is just for comic relief, he's obviously not being literal.
Does McCain have a legitimate shot in this election? Or is Obama basically our next president? Like what are the odds of McCain winning?
a. no it wasn't. b. I'm not proud of America right now. c. at least she doesn't pander to the masses to make them happy. — bguirk
True on all three points.
the "move to iran" is just for comic relief, he's obviously not being literal.
It may not be literal, but he's not exactly joking either. What he is doing is spouting the same silly jingoistic rhetoric that is sadly heard way too often. The whole if "If you are going to criticize America or its government or believe that everything isn't perfect always and better than every other country in the world, you should just move!" bullshit that is of course based on a suppression of free speech which is one of the cornerstones of the America that I believe in. But then, Republicans don't get irony.

Unfortunately, I'd bet his odds are better than Obama. Don't let the protracted joke of a Democratic primary fool you. Obama may be getting more coverage from it, but the damage done from the mutual smear campaign between him and Hillary has probably weakened the Democrats chances more than helped.

It is a surreal form of doublethink that so many people treat protest and dissent as though they were un-American, when, in fact, they are some of the founding principals of America.
Not exactly related (and not exactly a novel observation) but this reminds me of the meaningless drivel that shows up on campaign posters.
"Strengthen Families"; "Protect our Borders"; "Give Seth Green an Espresso Enema"
That's all well and good, and we can all agree on it, but it is also entirely content-free.
It's not like anyone is actually saying we should weaken families, or the candidate is actually presenting a viable plan to strengthen families (or even a compelling reason to believe that families are weak).
Unfortunately, I'd bet his odds are better than Obama
Enough people are talking about Barack winning as though it were a fait accompli that I'm more than a bit nervous about that as well.
As far as Mr. Obama vs. Mr. McCain, I am talking to voters every day now with my new job and so far people seem to be going for Mr. Obama more than Mr. McCain. But there are also some people who are unsure about Mr. Obama too.
Remember that one chain letter that went around stating that Obama was a Muslim...Well my sister emailed that to me last year saying "you should read this before you vote", and now she's basically kissing Obama's ass. It's funny how she went from being anti-Obama (because she thought he was a Muslim) to being his supporter.

People in iran love America, it's just the crazy president who that hates Israel, which is why people think he hates the U.S.
"Hi, my name is amosmos. I'm from Israel and now Ahmadinejad is in New York, and he wants to destroy me. What should I do?"
Unfortunately, I'd bet his odds are better than Obama.
I'm very with you there. Part of my job is to get Obama elected and some of the people I work with seem to think it's something of a foregone conclusion, but as a great book about electoral politics called "The Loyal South" said 20 years ago--you need to win at least one Southern state to win the presidency and that's been true at least since Roosevelt. It's no mistake that the last two Democrats to win have been former governors of Southern states. I would argue that it would be hard for a white dem from a Northern state to win let alone a black democrat. There's a lot of entrenched shit that changes slowly in this game. This best chances are picking off Virginia, but I won't believe it's possible 'til I see it.
It is a surreal form of doublethink that so many people treat protest and dissent as though they were un-American, when, in fact, they are some of the founding principals of America.
Even before you get to the dissent the whole "I love America" thing is such drivel. The US is a complicated system of interacting policies and the whole "with us or against us" mentality is a symptom of stupidity, youth, or both. It's especially funny because the people who spout the "love it or leave it" shit out have no problem complaining about things like abortion or welfare, it's just when you argue against their simplistic patriotism or one of their pet policies that you're suddenly French, Iranian, Russian ect.
Haven't gotten that yet, but it's probably coming, possibly tomorrow when I go out. A lot of people haven't been home or haven't answered the door the last couple days.

Yeah, I didn't care the first time I saw that picture and don't care now.
This goes for the whole "Obama is a Muslim" brouhaha. Even if it were true, we've had a crazy Christian in office, I can't image a Muslim would be any worse.
i'm not one to nitpick (or care that much about politics), but isn't it sort of a big deal that obama goes out of his way to NOT place his hand over his heart? he wants to be the HEAD of this country. wtf. go ahead and place your hand over your heart for this country's national anthem, barack hussein obama.
everyone, especially in california, is falling all over themselves to be "progressive" and therefor are all about this man. its like adam once said: the best way to get thru airport security and hijack a plane, in all likelyhood, would be to dress as MUCH like a stereotypical terrorist as possible. because, y'know, we can't profile. we can't judge. it is phisically impossible to judge.

Not to me. I do the hand-clasp at sporting events when the anthem is played. I feel silly doing the hand on the heart thing seeing as how I'm no longer in elementary school. I'm old enough to pay respect in any manner I choose. But then I value freedom of expression as opposed to blindly following ritualistic orders.
i used to canvass for hrc and environment maryland and people would always invite me into their houses and give me some of whatever they were making for dinner. i think they felt sorry for me because i did it in the summer and in the winter so it was either incredibly hot or incredibly cold. every time i knocked on a door, i would pray for the people to have a dog so i could touch it. when you talk to people about their dogs, they give you more money.

http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/anthem.asp
read all about it--or don't. It's not a big deal whether he went out of his way or doesn't always do it or whatever. Just like what a man's wife says or where she works doesn't have anything to do with what policies he'll support once in office, just like a flag pin doesn't automatically make you a good American and really just like who's in the top office really isn't all that much to get excited about. I encourage all of you with all this energy about the race/politics to go ahead and get a job in government or work on some campaigns. Don't volunteer--actually get a job that pays money. You'll quickly realize that the stuff the most of the public talks about has little to do with how government works or why someone gets elected.
edit: Not to me. I do the hand-clasp at sporting events when the anthem is played.
The only reason I stand up at all is usually out of respect for the old-timers around me in the cheap seats who actually care. The hand over the heart thing seems a little Nazi like to me.
