Thursday, April 10, 2008 at 3:24 PM I cant remember that last time 4/20 was on a weekend. Also, this is the first time in like 8 yrs that 4/20 is during earth day weekend. Usually its in the middle of the week n shit. Ive been cutting work/school on 4/20 since sophomore year in high school. One time i shroomed too. Anyways, I might go to washington with airking. Otherwise ill prolly watch the Serra vs. St Peirre fight and go to the beach.
Anyone else make big plans for 4/20? Or am I the only stoner? —whoisnumbaone |

I used to think that, too, until I started teaching. In my classes, only about 10% of kids work that way. That said, I still think all the concepts I teach are pretty simple, so I wind up giving a minimal explanation for 2 minutes and letting them practice it themselves on worksheets for the next 40 minutes. And for 90% of them, "practicing it themselves" equals fucking it all up until I personally explain to them how to do it again. —chix0r |

Now if the government/taxpayers (financial aid) was paying for his seat, then we'd have a major problem. Financial aid pays for my tuition and everything, so that's why I go to every single class meeting on time, take as many notes as I can, listen actively, and every once in a while I nod my head to let the professor know that I'm paying full attention to him/her. —whoisnumbaone most human factors studies studies show that multitaking is an illusion and no one does it well. We have access to a fancy driving simulator here and I got to watch some video data this semester. Rote activities like driving the car and changing the radio station work out OK (for experienced drivers), but talking on the phone and driving (tasks that both require some degree of attention) is a no no. Anyways, final thought on my reasons/argument: I used to be a complete shut in before 8th grade. I lived with my mom and my grandparents and didnt have many friends. I went through a huge transformation when I got to high school. I started smoking weed 1/2 through freshman year, and by sophomore year I found that I had a bunch of stoner friends and also, a life OUTSIDE my grandparents house. When 4/20 came around the first time I didnt know what it was and some friends explained it to me. We decided that we were gonna cutt school and go smoke at the park all day. It was great. I had so much fun. I felt as if I was I was free and independant. Like I had a life outside my family life. A life that I could share with JUST my friends. As stated earlier, the big difference for me when it come to holidays is that Xmas and 4th of July and Thanksgiving are all like "family" holidays. BUt 4/20 is a "friend" holiday, and I feel that its like our own special thing. Somethign we can share just between us, in order to celebrate our friendship. For my friends and I, smoking weed is not a hopeless addiction. Its a way for us to gather around, talk about the day, and just unwind for a few. Marijuana is a celebration and Its a gift form mother earth. I appreciate it very much, and once a year, on 4/20, I can gather around my friends and say "hey man, your a cool friend, and I like smoking with you. thanks" ....so anyways, think what you want. I have my reasons, and they are important to ME. hve a nice day people :) —whoisnumbaone |

I had so much fun. I felt as if I was I was free and independant. getting your driver licences and a car will give you the same feeling of freedom and indpendence.
Like I had a life outside my family life. A life that I could share with JUST my friends.
You could have gone to karaoke night, and shared those moments with just your friends. Xmas and 4th of July and Thanksgiving are all like "family" holidays BUt 4/20 is a "friend" holiday, and I feel that its like our own special thing. Somethign we can share just between us, in order to celebrate our friendship.
I'm pretty sure most parents smoked more weed (and other things) than their kids in the 60's and 70's.
Its a way for us to gather around, talk about the day, and just unwind for a few
why can't you just make a Rachel Ray 30 minute meal for your friends, and unwind with a couple of cocktails? —adams_babymomma |

Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 2:54 AM What are you doing for 4/20? I'll be posting something in another thread, then deleting it and giving it its own thread. Mikeyfish coming on my face is my anti-drug. You've obviously never experienced my semen. It is a drug, and baby, you'll want to get high every night. —Jaffa Cakes |

Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 3:35 PM I never understood those anti-drug ads. Just because you have a hobby/activity doesn't mean that it will stop you from doing drugs. One can say that Ballet is their anti-drug, but I bet there's millions of ballerinas who snort coke to stay skinny. —adams_babymomma |

Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 9:29 PM i'll tell you about 4/19. i went to see kids in the hall live and it was so wonderful and it rekindled my love of dave foley. his hair was natural, not dyed blond, thank garsh. it was grey, but it looked so soft. i was in the front row and i could see all of their sweat. i'd let any one of them come on my face. also, i went to toys r us before the show and i got my picture taken with geoffrey so that i could give it to my friend's family as a present. i signed it and they put it on their mantle. it was adorable. —mandee |

Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 9:50 PM i'll tell you about 4/19. i went to see kids in the hall live and it was so wonderful That is so damn cool. Your 4/19 sounds a lot better than mine. I just got off the phone from telling my friends that I can't go get a beer because: 1. I have a raging headache 2. I have to finish this fucking paper and then 1.5 fucking papers right after that one. It sucks making the grown up decision. If I were 23 I could've gone out, had that beer, come back and finished all three papers, and slept all day tomorrow. —bguirk |
