Saturday, February 16, 2008 at 6:55 PM Existentialism is a philosophical movement that posits that individuals create the meaning and essence of their lives, as opposed to deities or authorities creating it for them. It emerged as a movement in twentieth-century literature and philosophy, though it had forerunners in earlier centuries. Existentialism generally postulates that the absence of a transcendent force (such as God) means that the individual is entirely free, and, therefore, ultimately responsible. It is up to humans to create an ethos of personal responsibility outside any branded belief system. In existentialist views, personal articulation of being is the only way to rise above humanity's absurd condition of much suffering and inevitable death. ^QFW (quoted for wikipedia) Sincerely Derek. —lexieho |

Saturday, February 16, 2008 at 7:46 PM Cosmicism is the literary philosophy developed and used by the American writer H. P. Lovecraft in his weird fiction. Lovecraft was a writer of philosophically intense horror stories that involve occult phenomena like astral possession and alien miscegenation, and the themes of his fiction over time contributed to the development of this philosophy. The philosophy of cosmicism states that there is no recognizable divine presence, such as God, in the universe, and that humans are particularly insignificant in the larger scheme of intergalactic existence, and perhaps are just a small species projecting their own mental idolatries onto the vast cosmos, ever susceptible to being wiped from existence at any moment. This also suggested that the majority of undiscerning humanity are creatures with the same significance as insects in a much greater struggle between greater forces which, due to humanity's small, visionless and unimportant nature, it does not recognize. also, in before jism —Dark Laith |

—whoisnumbaone Not exactly. The Necronomicon was a fictional book that he made up, that the characters in his stories would often find or come across somehow. —Dark Laith |

Sunday, February 17, 2008 at 7:49 PM Edited Sunday, February 17, 2008 at 7:49 PM Syriac, but my ancestors spoke Aramaic. Lexie is right "khol" means eat/eaters. "ikhray" means shit. It's bascially means "shut the fuck up", but I'm not sure why we say "eat shit" I have a funny story for you guys: Last year this old assyrian guy who cannot speak English very well, got pulled over for speeding. Since that was his first time getting pulled over, he started apologizing to the officer. He said "I so sorry, I not do this, it's bad. I stupid, I eat shit"...The officer asked him if he really ate shit, and since the assyrian guy didn't understand he said 'yes'. The offcier ended up calling an ambulance to take him to the hospital since he "ate shit". I know it sounds weird, but you have to understand that words in different languages mean different things. Usually when Assyrians are informed of thier mistakes, they usually say in Assyrian "pakili, khelee ikhray" which is supposed to mean "I'm sorry, I'm just gonna shut up now" —adams_babymomma |

Monday, February 18, 2008 at 12:37 AM Nihilism (from the Latin nihil, nothing) is a philosophical position which argues that Being, especially past and current human existence, is without objective meaning, purpose, comprehensible truth, or essential value. Nihilists generally assert some or all of the following: -there is no reasonable proof of the existence of a higher ruler or creator, -a "true morality" does not exist, and -objective secular ethics are impossible; therefore, life has, in a sense, no truth, and no action is objectively preferable to any other —derekho |
