Sunday, January 6, 2008 at 7:02 AM The first Batman sucked, but I'm willing to give the second a chance. The part in the Iron Man trailer where the song kicks in is hilarious. I'm too lazy to find out if that video is the trailer I've seen, though. —chix0r |

Sunday, January 6, 2008 at 11:18 AM My interest in the Batman movies has nothing to do with comic books. Don't think I've ever even picked one up. For me, it's just a cool action movie that happens to be based on a comic. —anobody |

Sunday, January 6, 2008 at 11:24 AM I'm vehemently opposed to the pathetic grown man comic book and action hero obsession and have never in my life been into it, but the next Batman movie genuinely looks good. —miyagi-sama |

Sunday, January 6, 2008 at 12:06 PM somewhere along the line i've become almost entirely disinterested in fiction, especially the type where i know the good guy is guaranteed victory so they can make another movie. i mean, if you know the ending, why bother? you think batman is going to actually lose to the bad guy in the next flick? so, where's the suspense? take that away, and you're getting excited about cgi and fight scenes. i'm just getting old, and my brain is half cooked. i need high levels of arousal in order to feel stimulated, and fiction just doesn't cut it anymore. this is another reason why acid and E is bad. after you've done a ton of it, it makes normal stuff that most people get enjoyment from boring. —plurry |

Sunday, January 6, 2008 at 7:06 PM Attenuation through age has had exactly the opposite effect on me. In terms of getting me excited, reality just doesn't quite cut it. I almost need an over-produced roller coaster that's a Michael Bay montage of pretty pictures, emotional scenes and overpowering music to tell me how I should feel. —anobody |

Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at 1:20 PM the point is that i don't know what is going to happen before i die. like, with these movies.. the villain always seems to get the upper hand in the home stretch; one is led to believe all is lost. then, in the last 15 minutes, batman, etc. saves the day AND gets the girl. isn't that how 99% of all these action movies end? if i knew batman was going to die, and there would be no more sequels, i might tune in for that just to see which villain kills the fucker and to see the world plunge into chaos. —plurry |

Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at 5:21 PM This is actually one of the best things about Rocky - the ending isn't exactly Hollywood (though it's also not exactly not). I look at formulaic movies as being like a roller coaster. You know there will be ups and downs, and that at the end you're going to make it back safely to the station, but that doesn't make the ride any less fun (if it's not a good ride, predictability generally isn't the reason it's not).
