DS9 has some of the worst acting in the entire series. Janeway was better as a guest actor in the Holmes shows of TNG. TOS has some awesome iconic episodes that dealt with Vietnam and Philosophy. DS9 had an interesting doctor and a great rack or two. They also relied on a Borg episode every 2 weeks while TNG was good enough that it only used the Borg every season or so. Plus they invented the fucking Borg. Again: How dare you. There I said. Also 2 and 6 were the best star trek movies. I've been watching 1-6 lately. 5 is clearly the worst. 2 and 6 hold up the best. Three is surprisingly good and probably the hidden gem because it's the one people haven't watched in ages. The knowledge that Sulu is gay helps 1-4 quite a bit. 6 was a wretched, smoldering piece of buffalo buffalo flop. ano you ignorant slut. don't you get it? The Klingons are the Soviet Union. We need to be nice to them. They also snuck references about this one into TNG episodes featuring Spock. It was clearly the best time in the world to be a Trek fan. 4 and 8 were the best though (no sense in arguing about that - it's science). 4 is the crowd pleaser, but man is the non-enterprise crew acting horrible. The marine biologist character and her boss' acting is Lifetime movie of the week bad. 8 is so fucking good that I'll probably watch it today because you guys mentioned it. Oh and TACS still SUCS. Then they have Kirk go all googly-eyed for Miss Sea World Scientist?! The story line wasn't even plausible. I would rather watch "Flipper" until my eyeballs bled than watch Star Trek 4 a second time, and I'm sure that goes for the majority of both non and huge Star Trek fans. —John Lennon |

The metaphor wouldn't have been any more heavy handed if one of the Klingons was named Gorbachev. There's something to be said for subtlety.
