The hardest part was removing Derek's head from behind Björk's head. I had to raid Lexie's myspace for a different picture on the same background. Now that I mentioned it, everyone's going to notice how patched-together it is.

i was never emo, goth or indie, but since i like skinny puppy, NIN, marilyn manson, and the cure, i have goth leanings.
but when i was in high school/lexie and derek's age, (tyrannosaurus' terrorized our village) my passions were classic rock like led zeppelin, pink floyd and black sabbath and 80's underground metal led by metallica, megadeth and slayer. my junior year, grunge and alt rock exploded, and i was all about that too.
the grunge kids were cousins of the indie kids, (bands like dinosaur jr. and sonic youth had crossover appeal) but still distinguishable. the grunge kids wore flannels, grew their hair out, skipped classes, smoked pot and wished they were cool enough to score heroin like kurt cobain, layne staley or andrew wood. the indie kids dress was less uniform and bordered on geeky sometimes. they seemed less troubled, often hung out with the kids in high school band and primarily drank.
as far as i'm concerned, the most vile creatures are the punks. they have the straight edge, vegan, preachy, super angry, hardcore version, the anti-social, dyed mohawk having, tight leather wearing, drunken, smelly urban issue and the neo-nazi, skinhead clan.
And just for the record, my favorite Metallica albums are from the 90's era, The Black Album, and Reload. [Load sucked, and the album cover is disgusting] Garage Inc and The S&M CD's were amazing too.
The cover of Load was created by Andres Serrano, and was called Blood and Semen III. Serrano pressed a mixture of his own semen and bovine blood between sheets of plexiglass, but not all fans were happy with the cover.
new york dolls lended more to glam rock than punk. kiss owes their success to them more than any other band.
90's metallica doesn't count for me. it's a completely different band/sound. they went from writing 8 minute, complex, riff laden, heavy metal songs to catchy, 4 minute, radio ready alt metal songs.
loved everything up to 1988's "...and justice for all", but was turned off until they released the horribly under appreciated "st. anger" in 2003.

Woah. Wait a minute. You liked St. Anger?
All right, so I'll grant that a couple of the songs on the album were all right. Maybe. But how could you stand Lars' metal snare drum or whatever that was, every half-beat throughout the entire god damn album? It sounds like someone was banging on a giant metal garbage can during their recording sessions.
the snare does stick out. i've heard others complain about that, but it doesn't bother me.
yeah, i love it. "all within my hands" and "some kind of monster" are two of the best songs they've written. the title track, "sweet amber" and "invisible kid" are also really good. i always skip by "shoot me again" though.

One of my friends is in a folk-Irish/punk/country band. Their music is pretty good, but I went to one of their shows and all of the bands that preceded them were punk.
Every set list seemed to be five versions of the same song where they were just banging on the drums and guitar and screaming at the top of their lungs.
Maybe it's just that I've never been that angsty, but it t all seemed so fake and boring to me.

I've been that angsty, but I've also always appreciated musicianship and I've had the same feeling at many a punk show. The best thing i can say about most punks is that some of the bands have great drummers who can play at unbelievable tempos, but the rest of the band leave something to be desired. The bands that are punk in spirit only like early Police singles or The Clash are a lot more to my liking. I do like the folk-punk thing too like the Pougues or Violent Femmes, but again--good musicians.
There's this other prof @ stan state...his name is Matt Pivec, he teaches History of Jazz. He's like 30 something, but he looks so young. I think i'm gonna take a class with him.
I attended one his saxophone concerts, it was so hot watching him lick the head of the saxophone.. now i know he looks fugs in this pic, but he's hotter in person
it's so weird when people think sex is only for impregnating. so does that mean when those people have it they don't enjoy it in anyway? are they repressing the joy or is it not there at all?
wasn't sex before the 16th century only for conceiving? Yes, there was a royal decree that said you couldn't bang anyone unless it was for the sole purpose of having a child.

This seems like a side-effect of creationism.
Once you realize that Homos have been fucking for a couple million years and humans have been around for hundreds of thousands of years, it is clear that a few hundred years of religious suppression don't represent the natural state of things.
