Student teaching ended at Thanksgiving, my official teaching gig (at the high school where I graduated and student taught) doesn't start until January 7th, and I have no classes, ergo nothing to do for the entire month. So. What series' should I attempt to rent from the library and watch?

Keep in mind I currently only regularly watch reality TV, and in the past I was into teenage crap like The OC and Roswell. I liked Sex and the City, too.

You might actually like Rome (a smattering of occasionally correct history, and a fair bit of Showtimeesque chick-targeted pr0n).

Considering the OC, and Roswell... maybe Smallville would actually be to your taste (assuming you haven't seen it yet).

You probably wouldn't like Quantum Leap, or Journeyman, or Curb Your Enthusiasm, or Entourage, or Heros, or even The Sopranos... but they're all good enough that I'd still recommend them.

Pee Wee's Playhouse. Or Clerks: The Animated Series.

I wish they would release Mr. Belvedere on DVD.

if you didn't see 6 feet under from start to finish, i would suggest that. i've been able to DL tons of episodes from soulseek.

yeah, i know it's not reality, but it was very, very well written.

I think I saw the first season of that. I wouldn't be opposed to seeing how it turned out.

Chix0r: If you liked the OC, then watch Freaks and Geeks, it's a high school show but it doesn't yknow, suck.

It has James Franco [spiderman] and Seth Rogen [Superbad, Knocked Up], it's funny to watch them as young'uns.

anobody's right about Entourage and Rome too.

I'm shamefully hooked on The L Word--it's a very low rent combination of Sex & the City and Beverley Hills 90210, except with women going down on each other. I truthfully now fast forward through the sex--after 4 seasons it doesn't do anything for me now. Even though you mentioned no crime shows, I've really been liking Monk lately. Good writing, surprisingly funny.

Mork & Mindy. That show was great, I love Robin Williams.

The Shield, House, etc.

robin williams was a scream in the late 70's and early 80's when he was on a lot of coke.

some of his "the tonight show w/ johnny carson" appearances were side splitters.

Exactly. World According To Garp was good. Popeye was crap, but he probably just did it for the money. I used to have his CD of his act from the late 70's called, "Reality - What A Concept", it was pretty good.

Again...no mention...crime shows...blah-blah-blah, but you might try Homicide: Life on the Street.

Oh yeah - Homicide is fantastic.

I was always a big fan of The Commish as well.

Scrubs also comes to mind (though I'm not sure how much that would be to your taste).

it's a very low rent combination of Sex & the City and Beverley Hills 90210

Sounds like a form of torture that would be forbidden at Gitmo.

except with women going down on each other

On second thought... maybe I should check that show out.

don't do it ano--it's horrible TV, I'm ashamed, and I'm completely hooked. I'm looking forward to season 5 when they finally lock one of them up in an all women's prison so it can be a combo of Oz, 90210, and Sex and the City.

On second thought... maybe I should check that show out.

Did I mention the implied fisting?

watch kenny vs spenny. it premiered on comedy central recently, but that was such a bad episode. my roommate has the original canadian series on dvd and we've been watching it and it's so good. kenny is such a dreamboat.

I would recommend 3rd Rock From the Sun

I think I saw the episodes on DVD. Im not sure if they're the canadian version or US... It was a while back. One of them was them trying to compete in strip dancing, and another one was selling bibles. The latter was a little funny, but when you know it was all scripted and them pitching it as real is off-putting.

I've seen that show a few times, it's pretty funny I guess, I like the one that always cheats.

Although I'm not much of a fan of potty humor, I thought this was frickin hilarious. The expression on the skinnier dude's face [Spenny?] is priceless.

Kenny is so hot, he has such a great face. I want him to finger me so badly. [too real?] But I mean, I'd do either one of them. They do a competition to see who is funnier and they have to do a stand-up act and be judged, so Kenny forges a letter to Spenny from the government saying that he has HIV and Spenny is so distraught and he becomes almost suicidal that he can't perform. It's so good, guys.
