Friday, August 3, 2007 at 3:37 PM Looks aside, about 2/3rds of the time I fire off an email on MySpace, it doesn't appear in my sent messages folder and I have no idea if it actually went out or if it was lost to the ages. Facebook has a great AJAX based system for threaded messages that seems to work consistently and allows you to easily follow the course of a conversation. The only major ding against Facebook is that you don't get friended by tons of "hot chicks" who link to sites with their nude pics. —anobody |

Friday, August 3, 2007 at 5:29 PM Facebook looks much cleaner and they did all of MySpace's nifty new features first - like photo organization, unlimited uploads, and a status area. Plus, now they've got tons of fun applications, like the "Catbook" add-on. (I'm talking to you, Harry.) No but really, they have a movie application where you can rate and review movies, and basically stuff like that for all media (CDs, videogames, etc.) And you can link your blog to update via Facebook notes, and you get updates about everyone anytime they do anything on the site (most importantly add photos - also, you get notified when someone is tagged in a photo - hey that's another thing, tagging people in photos). I'd also like to take this opportunity to complain about the fact that my "Spanish word of the day" application only does stupid words like "hat" and "three." —chix0r |

Friday, August 3, 2007 at 6:29 PM Edited Friday, August 3, 2007 at 6:29 PM You can just give it a name like Lena..Lena..I forgot your last name, we'll go with Lena A. It doesn't *need* your password to search for friends; if you want to use your address book to search, then it needs it. You can just search for everyone manually instead if you want. I'm pretty sure using your address book to find friends has absolutely nothing to do with looking at people's profiles. Unless someone is in your school or regional network, you can't see their profile until they accept you as a friend. And you can set it that even people in your network can't see it. I like a Facebook and a Myspace because they're completely different, and different sets of people see them. I have different friends on both, different pictures, everything. —chix0r |

Friday, August 3, 2007 at 7:05 PM i liked facebook better when it was just for colleges because it felt more special. anyway, facebook is really useful if you meet someone at school and want to look at pictures of them/find out if they're gay or in a relationship. facebook is always good for referencing people. it's kind of essential for school. also, i met a lot of people on facebook before i got to college so i already knew people when i got there. —mandeemoo22 |

Monday, August 6, 2007 at 3:43 PM Yes--you're on the internet--you never need security of course. Buying something on Amazon is like posting your credit card on TLC. Anyone can type my name into a box and post as me in any forum. You can all take a look at my grades and bank statements--it's the internet after all. —bguirk |
