Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at 8:28 AM I just don't get the appeal of watching a movie about a bunch of hot chicks.... getting mutilated and then killed. What do you get out of it? Is it the same gene that makes people fuck up traffic by rubbernecking? (and, if so, what exactly is that?) I got dragged to Saw II when it was in the theater and I was 'treated' to see some guy get incinerated alive, a chick pushed into a hole filled with dirty hypodermic needles, and another chick die by sticking her hand in a plexiglass Chinese finger puzzle with knives. Brilliant fun, that! Why not go see Knocked Up? 91% positive at Rotten Tomatoes says something. Hostel Part II is only 51% positive - that's almost as low as Pirates III and below Spider-Man 3 for Christ's sake. If you're committed to watching fucked up shit, what about 28 days weeks later? 70% positive reviews - can't be all bad. —anobody |

Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at 11:59 AM Ask yourself: Do you like crap? Are you an idiot? Do the simplest forms of entertainment keep you engrossed? If you answered 'yes' to any of these questions, then you should go see Hostel II. —Beat It! |

Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at 2:38 PM I just don't get the appeal of watching a movie about a bunch of hot chicks.... getting mutilated and then killed. Gross-out value? To see if I can handle it? I don't know. And I think Eli Roth is a solid director. & He was on Loveline the other night and being the good corporate whore I am, if I hear something advertised I must go see it. get yo bitch spunk drunk instead if you want to have an evening of real entertainment. feed her enough wine coolers and maybe you could talk her into 3rd input. now, wouldn't that be better than hostel 2? It would've been much better but she was frollicking about at gymnastics practice and she works later, so seeing a movie wasn't in the cards. We're spending all day together tomorrow...the big 8-monther. Woo. Anyways, I saw Knocked Up [and no Anobody, sorry, not per your advice] and then having another 2 hours to kill before I had my meeting for work [I work at a restaurant as a waiter, and this was the fucking gayest shit I have ever seen. All touchy feely and "what can you do to make a difference?" kind of crap. And the owner was super into it and it was just weirddddd] I saw Hostel II. I really wanted to see Ocean's 13, and I really, REALLY wanted to see 28 Weeks Later, but Ocean's 13 was too long and I would've been late to my meeting, and 28 Weeks Later is already out of theaters in my area. So I slipped into Hostel 2...Was definitely not as bad as the first one, I have to say. It was still brutally disgusting, and I literally had to cover my eyes like a little pussy through parts of it, but I thought it was deec. If you're into that stuff. And the girls weren't even that incredibly hot. The evil girl was, but the other 3 were just obnoxious. The nerdy girl was unbearable. Her acting was awful. The red head was just fucking whorish and obnoxious, and the black haired girl was bearable at best. The movie was well directed, but the acting was sub-par, and I think it was a mistake to use two Desperate House-husbands as the two killers. As with the first one, this wasn't really a horror movie this was a "Let's see how many people we can make puke!" movie. Really sick and twisted. Oh and the other reason I saw it was because this is the last of the Hostel movies, and I saw the first one so I wanted to see how the "series" if you want to call it that, ends.

Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at 3:34 PM Edited Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at 3:38 PM Oh yeah, cause the first one left so many unanswered questions... And by the way, if it makes more than probably $60 million there will be another and another and another... Now maybe without the 'genius' of Eli Roth, but there wil be more sequels eventually going straight to video and running its course. Friday the Thirteenth, Alien, Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street just to name a few have all had their "last movie" only to be followed a few years later by a new one to bleed more cash from the tards. It's simple marketing to announce it's the last one to help pull in suckers, er discerning moviegoers, who think things like "I wanted to see how the 'series' ends." —Beat It! |

I mean I saw Deuce Bigalow 1, but I was totally content without seeing the second one, I didn't HAVE to see how the "series" ended. —anfernee |

Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at 5:45 PM Meh. I'll ruin the 1492 theme now. And that's why I put series in quotation marks...since 2 movies doesn't exactly equal a series. —andrewwagner777 |

Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at 5:47 PM Gross-out value? To see if I can handle it? Volunteer at a busy E-R on friday or saturday nights. I guarantee you'll see 'better' stuff, and if you push for it, you'll even be able to touch it. and no Anobody, sorry, not per your advice That's OK - I'm still taking credit for it (and everyone else who saw the movie, for that matter). definitely not as bad as the first one That's a ringing endorsement of a sequel (and the original) if I've ever heard seen one. I was totally content without seeing the second one, I enjoyed the first one, but the second one was so terrible and sucked so badly that I ejected it about 2/3rds of the way through - and I never do that.

Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at 6:15 PM OK Mandee. Do you like computers? Are you interested in moving to Phoenix? or Tucson? If not, I might be able to get you a position as an AA (but that seems beneath you, if you want my opinion). What about banks? Do you like banks? Do you like the deep south? I might be able to hook you up there. Barring that, are you interested in converting to Mormonism and moving to Utah? —anobody |
