I was (and still kind of am) fascinated with the saga of Teresa and her ex. I'm just now listening to the May 31st episode where she broke down right at the beginning of the show.

It's weird, because I simultaneously love T and hate her. I mean, she's my imaginary radio friend, and you like people that you know better (usually). But, the 90-days thing is the most retarded and... If there was a New Jersey of the female psyche, that idea would have come from there. It's not necessarily evil, it's just messed up, complicated, and grimy. The fact that she would hex that cursed-luggage on someone who loved her is a kind of messed up that you don't see everyday.

She was dating this guy when she moved to LA, and he followed.

Eventually, they break up, but remain friends (as in - still hung out every day and got along better than when they were dating).

She's still infatuated with him, and her therapist decided that the best way to see if her feelings were 'real' was to take a 90-day break where they wouldn't see each-other.

This ended a week or so ago, and she decides that she still was interested...

So she calls him up... and he doesn't answer or respond to her voicemail for a day or so.

When he does, he sends an SMS that says something like "I need more time", which she is a little upset by. There's a little bit of ambiguous electronic back-n-forth.

Finally, she gets a long email from him explaining that he's in love with another girl, and she cries while reading it on the air.

That's the dispassionate, relatively unbiased story, anyway.

I feel for her, but I totally agree with ZT - the break was totally retarded (though they were already broken up at the time, and he might have been dating this new girl back then anyway, so it really didn't make a bit of difference - just a lot of drama).

I think T got what she deserved, but she should fire her therapist. Her 90 days thing is "I'm going to see if any other dude is better and then we'll see." It's a horrible message to send to another human being. If you're hemming and hawing either date more or not and be exclusive or not, but this in-between stuff is retarded and more appropriate for 20-year olds who don't know any better not for full grown adults.

If my lady sent me that message I would be trolling craigslist, match.com, and my local alt.weekly for ass 2 minutes later just to be sure I got some preemptive anger-f#cks in so I could rub it in should she ever come crawling back. Her message to him totally encourages the behavior she got from her man. Adam and Danny read it perfectly.

The only reason I think the shrink wasn't guilty of malpractice is that they were broken up already but T still had (apparently unreciprocated) feelings for him.

It might have just been a way to trick T into making a clean break and moving on.

Though I'm probably giving the shrink way too much credit.
