AP classes?

Next year I'm taking AP English, Calculus, and US History but I'm thinking about taking Enviromental Science and US Gov & Politics.

I'm just worried that I won't be able to handle some of these classes or I'll get bored. If you guys have been through some of these classes or any AP classes, which ones did you like, which ones were easy, blah blah blah?

and on a possibly unrelated note: what was your favorite class in high school? Mine was Marketing which i took sophmore year, and it was awesome cause I loved DECA.

This is the same as your college thread. AP classes are going to vary based on high schools. I took AP English and Chemistry, and I got over 100% in the Chem class but bombed the test because we didn't actually learn anything. That's okay; I tested out of it in college and got credit anyway.

AP English was easy too, but I got a..4 I think on the test. It was worth two Lit classes in college. My favorite class was probably Pottery. I also got college credit for International Relations, which transferred in as a 300-level class and was sort of hard as a sophomore..got the best grade in the class though. And I got 1 semester of college credit for a year of Spanish 3, which was a breeze.

I took AP US history my junior year, it wasn't too hard. Less work than CP from what i heard.

Then my senior year i took AP government/econ and that class was a challenge. On the first day my a-hole, fat, racist, republican teacher said "some of you don't belong in the AP level" and he looked right at me...

He had a problem with AP students who played football because he thought that was not fit for the typical AP student. He wouldn't even let some of the girls go to powderpuff, and when he found out that the top 10 highest academically ranked students were in his class, he made things more difficult for them.

in 11th and 12th grade, all of my classes were AP. i never even considered not taking all APs. you should look at what colleges you want to go to and see if they accept AP credits and which ones they take because if you do well on the AP tests, you could pass out of some of the requirements. for example, I got a 5 on both AP Calc exams and i passed out of my science requirement. however, i got a 4 on the AP French exam and my school only accepts 5's, so I didn't pass out of the language requirement. buut it always looks good if you take the highest level classes because it shows colleges that you are challenging yourself and they like that.

i loved all of my AP social studies classes, but my favorite was definitely AP Government. although, i think that i liked these classes because of the teachers. that's usually how it works when it comes to favorite classes anyway. i liked AP economics because of my teacher, but i can't imagine loving the class in any other situation. also, my high school was a law and public policy magnet school and i was one of the law students (you had to apply to this in middle school), so i had to take a lot of extra social studies classes to fulfill the law requirements.

no. we had to take a law class each year. freshmen- basic judicial/policy stuff. sophomore- trial law. junior- international law. senior- we didn't have a specific class, but most of us in LPP took AP gov't. we also had to take 3 law related electives. i took Law, Film, and Literature, Facing History (which turned out to be mostly about the holocaust), and i fulfilled the last one by being on the mock trial team.

I actually didn't take many AP courses.

There's a delicate balance you should consider. Getting out of taking a required class in college is great - but - unless you have an exceptional high school, the class you take might not be nearly as good as what you could get in college.

Physics and advanced biology were cool.

Humanities I wasn't so fond of - but it was a good experience and would have been better if I put more effort into it (looking back, I can't believe how many opportunities I squandered to read classics and to culture myself).

I enjoyed a lot of classes in high school.

Anatomy and physiology was probably my favorite class in high school. Advanced biology would be a close second, followed by world politics, sociology (pauses to reminisce about the hot 22 year old teacher who wore tight /skimpy skirts) and psychology were good.

I think Engrish was my least favorite high school (and undergrad) class. There's one I would have gone AP with if I knew better at the time (though it really wasn't *that* big of a deal to dredge through it in college).

My school didn't have AP classes. Our high school teachers were certified instructors at the local university so if I had wanted to I could've taken college level Physics, Government, English, and Writing basically getting two quarters out of the way w/ no cost to me. I took the Math, English, Writing, government, and two lunch periods instead of the physics. AP classes and then a test seem like a rip off in comparison. Take one or two AP classes to suck up to your school, but otherwise have fun you senior year. Your undergraduate years aren't some kind of race.

Ano makes a good point too although at a lot of places those lower level classes (especially the ones that require papers like writing, english, and government) are taught by graduate students which is such a crap shoot that the more you can avoid them the better.

God I hated PE in highschool (though that's one of those squandered opportunities for me in my book).

PE was fun. So was weights and lifetime sports. My weights coach was a cool guy, when I had him for lifetime sports we would play baseball in the gym and when someone would strike out I would yell "How's THAT feel!" and "YEEEAH, buddy!" and he started shouting those things whenever someone made a mistake! Oh such fun times, hahahaha!

yeah business marketing sounds like something I might major in, I want to major in something business-oriented and get my mba.

I don't know how to post pictures, I can barely do anything on the computer or this website. I don't even know how to italicize quotes, and I still don't get the dolland hub.

I don't know how to post pictures,

First - right click on the picture you want to post and select "copy image address".

Next - go to Imageshack, click the "upload URL" button, and paste the image's address into the URL bar, and hit "Host It".

Now, highlight the text in the "Direct Link" box (something like - http://img379.imageshack.us/img379/7290/3womenia1.jpg , right-click and select copy)

Finally, post the image -

<img src="http://img379.imageshack.us/img379/7290/3womenia1.jpg" />

(pasting your link between the quotes after src)

you should get something like this -

I don't even know how to italicize quotes,

<i>This would be in italics</i>

and I still don't get the dolland hub.
