First off, thanks to all of you for your support over the last year. I really appreciate it. You all know what's going on with the show, but what you may not know is why everything happened and how i feel about it.

The show has been doing pretty well in the ratings in every market we're in except the one the suits in NY care about which is Los Angeles. They decided that Damashek was the problem. I disagreed with that and convinced them to give me until the end of the year to get the ratings up in LA. When our next ratings trend came in we got a 3.3 in LA up from a 1.2 and it looked like everyone's job was safe. But when our last ratings trend came in 2 days before the xmas break we got a .7. I know it seems impossible to go from a 3.3 to a .7 when the product hasn't changed but that's the beauty of Arbitron. The .7 is all the guys in NY needed to strip the show.

I like Dave as a friend, and i like him as a comedian although i do understand he's an aquired taste. I thought he did a great job this year and you can bet right now that Jimmy Kimmel is hard at work trying to find him a sports radio job. I'll miss doing radio with him but we'll remain friends and i'll see him every Sunday watching football over at Kimmel's.

As far as Bonaduce goes, obviously i didn't choose him because if i had my druthers Dave would be in studio come Jan. 2. But, that being said, i do think he's a talented radio personality who has a lot to offer, much more than his drunken, menacing tv persona would lead you to believe. He's done the show a number of times and has done tv shows i've been on and our chemistry has always been good. We met a few days back and he understands that it's not going to be the Danny and Adam show. It will be the Adam Carolla Show with Danny Bonaduce and Teresa Strausser.

Thanks for all the support you guys have given the show and with you guys behind me, we'll have a great '07.

Thanks,

Ace

Seconded.

As far as Bonaduce goes, obviously i didn't choose him

That's gonna make a great working environment (assuming Danny knows how to read which may be a rather large assumption).

the suits in NY

So it's not Jack Silver - it's these guys.

To Times Square with the pitch forks! I'm only kidding - my heart's just not in it. Guess I've already moved on :-(

I didn't exactly get that impression reading Danny's post a few days ago. The best thing that will come out of this is that maybe we'll somehow get to see these two box--my money would be on Adam--he's got the reach.

From the moment I first heard this rumor, I figured that Danny would play nice... at first - then he'll gradually try to take over the show. It's not even that he'd necessarily want to - it's just his nature.

Nothing I've seen or heard since then has changed my expectations.

I'm listening to ACE's show and just a few seconds ago he confirmed everything written in that post, about how NY decided the change of the show, and Tad and Bruska gone as well, and that he didn't have a say and they are all still friends and they welcome bonadouche.

I fear that once that formula flops that Adam will be off the air.
There's no way he'll crawl back to Loveline, from there I think if he gets a show it'll
be local or he'll just focus again back to T.V. Hopefully ACP part duex.

I'm actually fairly optimistic after listening to today's show.

It wasn't the same and I missed Dave, but it wasn't all that bad and I imagine there'll be a lot of improvement over time.

It sounds sounds to me like Ace's ratings weren't so bad - except in LA. Even there, the fluctuations could have had as much to do with chance and the lameness of Arbitron as anything.

Getting rid of Dave was a stupid and reactionary move, and it sucks that the people in charge did it, but I'm with Adam - it's better to mourn Dave's loss and move on than to dwell on the past.

For better or worse, I'll keep listening.

I only listened to about... 1/4 of the show so far.

I don't know. I only wish good things for Ace. If that means that good things have to happen to bonadouchie too, then I guess that's okay.

You never know - once the ratings go up and Adam can start dictating terms, Danny might find himself out of a job.

... of course, what will probably happen is that the suits will think the ratings going up was Danny's fault and be hesitant about getting rid of him.

then get a friends to gargle rocks and chain smoke while reciting shit he heard at an AA meeting.

You forget spending a bit of time talking with a vapid teenager about which celebrities are gay and what they were wearing when a paparazzi snapped a pic of their snatch.

Seriously - is that shit really what Adam's demo wants to hear? If they had to get rid of Dave, why oh why couldn't they dump Perez in an ally and leave him for dead?

That's so surprising - coming from someone who has repeatedly said how much he dislikes or even hates Dave.

I don't have a good record because when the show started I did not like Dave - But He and Teresa became such a great threesome with the Aceman because they brought something interesting to the show and they worked well with Adam - Dave started bringing some good stuff to the show and I even found the sports fun (and I dont do American sports!)
So slagging of Bdouche is easy for me - But thing things I did not like about Dave could be and were changed - BDouche cannot change that horrible voice - the me me me stories and the ability to shut the F up.
Listening to an old Loveline show yesterday Adam said "Shut the hell up Drew you idiot" - I wish he could do the same thing to Bdouche.
Day two of the show and its still all about Bdouche can he not talk about anybody else?

Well, firstly Id like to say, your safest bet, in radio, is to get a hot looking newswoman and a sidekick with the most excrutiatingly horrible voice to listen to. Really? There was NO ONE ELSE FOR THE JOB!!

"Look without bonadouche theres no show, plain and simple!"

yea but...

"I DONT CARE.....just get that gravelly larynxed sounding bastard in here!! "

Its good radio to have a magical voice box in the studio that will make the listeners want to change the dial anytime he speaks. It would be a step up if they gave him one of this vocoder things that the people who have removed their windpipe use.

That is interesting. For some reason I hadnt thought of that. Ace used to slap Drew around, like a sock puppet. Then, like an idiot, Drew would just take it, or not throw anything back, instead he would go out of his way to laugh at Adams joke, even though Drew was clearly hurt. It makes me cringe even thinking about some of the moments where Drew just laid down and let Adam steamroll over him and then Drew would pop his head up "thankyou can i have another sir!".......urhh

Anyway I havent heard Ace slapping his coworkers around much on TACS. Do you think it has to do with the fact that itīs only been a year, and their isnt enough mutual comfort between everyone to start showing the true colors?

Or do you think ace is holding back because this is a whole different ballgame now?

Well, anyway, I hope if bonodotchy gets out of line that Ace will remember the part of him that used to force Drew to eat shit and like it.

It didn't seem all that Bdouche centered to me. It was a little awkward when Adam and Danny were talking about possibly going over to Jimmy's house for football and T pointed out that it might be wise to wait a while.

I'm still listening, but it's just making me blue and nostalgic for Dave. I hate the idea of giving up on the show, but I'm still contemplating it.

Well, anyway, I hope if bonodotchy gets out of line that Ace will remember the part of him that used to force Drew to eat shit and like it.

That'd be nice to think, but I don't imagine Danny lying down and taking it.

Then again, maybe, just *maybe*, that's a good thing. Adam starts challenging Danny, Danny reacts, tensions build, and eventually Danny leaves opening up a chance for Dave's triumphant return (featuring Star Wars music).

I would guess that a large part of the reason why Tad, Dave, and Bruscha were fired was because they gave the show too much of a local-morning-show-zoo vibe. The suits in NY are probably looking for a show that has some bigger name distinction, not the local yokel sounding sports guys and the obligatory fall-guy fat-guy, and the Brooklyn goofball producer.

Dave is missed, and worse, the show I think has weird hierarchy problems now than Bonaduce is on (is he a cohost? Partner like Dr. Drew? Is he above Teresa?). And his voice is annoying. He's blowhardy. And I'm bored to tears already with his drug and booze anecdotes.

More ace, less 'duce.

You know how Adam talks about what Mark David Chapman tried to do in Hawaii? I'd bet you could one-up him and succeed.

Keep Dave Petition

Not that I expect it'd do anything, but I've tried to sign it a couple of times (when it first came up and just now) but something seems broken. I just get this message -

Today was actually the first day the show seemed semi-normal. Somehow it wasn't so depressing to listen to it.

Unlike Dave, I don't expect Danny to ever really grow on me, but he's at least passable.

This morning when I downloaded the podcast segments, I got really excited when I read the description of the first segment - something like "Adam complains about alarms". I came up with this huge fantasy about Danny's alarm not working and him being late and then he was going to get fired for it and Dave would come back.

Then I played the thing and heard Adam introduce T and Danny in the first few seconds. Can't tell you how disappointed I was.

So, I listened to the first episodes with Danny. I gotta say, it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I think Danny butted in too much and all that and things seemed a bit awkward. But overall, it wasn't bad to listen to. I'll keep listening for the time being.

Ditto.

It's funny that he couldn't make it through his first week without being late. I've heard him say how much of a professional he is and how reliable he is so many times (including today).

Even funnier his excuseplanation that he was actually super early and decided to try to go for Starbucks - then he got lost on the way back... of course, I totally believe him about not knowing the address - I do the same thing and never have any idea what any of my classroom or office numbers are, but still.
