Is there anything about the show anyone likes anymore? I mean, I like Drew; but he's fine doing his Discovery Health stuff and making rounds at Las Encines. Do we really need the show anymore? This Stryker fellow is kind of a disaster. To tell you the truth - it was never loveline, it was always the Adam Carolla show, it was just called loveline. Maybe, the host thing is the real problem here. Is it that hard to find a real talent for the show? Stryker is just another kid in way above his head. It really just seems like a slow death from here. I do want to ask a question though...if you do listen to the show currently and dislike stryker...why do you listen?

Drew. Still learning new things every now and then. As much as I like Adam, it was Drew's whole end of things that really piqued my interest in the show, and not even Stryker will keep me away.

we. don't. Lots of kids probably do though. Even with an old world monkey at the helm, the show can still do some good.

My main concern is that it's going to loose affiliates and that it won't be there for future generations of sploozers and stoners to learn from.

Maybe you're right. I guess a newer younger generation is coming in - maybe they'll get on board.

The MTV philosophy (that you can't hire anyone under 25 as producers because everyone else isn't hip) makes MTV.

I really doubt those are the ones tuning in each night. The ones who need loveline the most are not the ones listening, which is why we have callers calling with the same questions every single night ("um, I'm 19, and I've never had an orgasm, am I broken? lolz") The ones listening are people with nothing else to do at night and are too lazy to turn off the radio, or people interested in medical stuff, future doctors and stuff. Adam brought some sploozers to the show, but I'm sure they left with him.

Because I still find great comfort in the assurance that there are others out there WAY more effed up than I...without having to read a newspaper.

I only listen to about 1-2 shows a month now when a good guest is on. But then Stryker ruins it. Best parts of the show is when Anderson does his gay drops directed towards Stryker. The only shows I have recently listened to are Cindy Margolis and Tony Hawk.

I don't think they're gonna get on board (at least not with Stryker). I just think they'll come upon the show, listen for a month or two (if that) and then leave once they get bored.

I really doubt those are the ones tuning in each night

Not only do I agree, I thought I said as much.

The ones listening are people with nothing else to do at night and are too lazy to turn off the radio, or people interested in medical stuff, future doctors and stuff. Adam brought some sploozers to the show, but I'm sure they left with him.

This is my point exactly. They're focusing on the callers (as if they were the demographic that kept the show going) when (I think) it's actually people like us (well... some of us). People who would never call in to ask a question, people who listened for entertainment and (on occasion) education (albeit more from Adam's rants than Drew's medicine).

My point is that the callers will always be there. And (this will make Drew happy), if the show's there, it'll help them. By forsaking the long time listeners, they're throwing away the bulk of the audience, which will make the affiliates think twice about paying much (if anything) for Loveline.

If you were an affiliate, would you put loveline in your programing? How is the show doing in ratings anyways? I never know how to check that kind of thing.

Yeah, I don't know how either. Maybe ZT knows.

I never know how to check that kind of thing.

Arbitron makes it a pain in the ass. They have the numbers online - and they'll gladly give them to you... for a significant price.

Of course, they've gotta make money somehow.

I have no idea how it's doing, so can't say what I'd do if I was an affiliate.

Actually, not as a fan with my own opinions, but in the mind of an affiliate - I'd probably wait at least a few months to give Stryker time to 'find his audience'. If things started going uphill after that, I'd buy or hold. If not, I'd dump it.

7th out of the top 10, huh? Interesting. I guess it's still popular in Orange County at least.

That depends. How many other shows is it competing with in that market and where was it ranked two years ago?
