Sunday, December 10, 2006 at 7:27 PM i'd rather do an essay than take a matn test..is your essay about a perfect society (Utopia)? Here's mine..Im not gonna post it all.. The section I chose in Utopia is “Slaves”. It is about how most households own at least two slaves who come from other countries. Some are criminals of Utopia, which are punished by becoming slaves to the wealthy citizens. The criminals are weighted down by gold chains around their necks or feet’s. The criminals are treated more harshly than the other slaves because Utopians consider them to evil, and that they deserve severe punishment as a result of their crime. The other classes of slaves are made up of poor, overworked workers from other nations who choose to immigrate to the island of Utopia. These slaves are treated more decently than the criminal slaves, and are often given respect. Besides the conditions of the slaves, More goes off to discuss the marriage customs of the Utopians. I believe it plays are part in this section because we must know what type of households there are in Utopia, and also how slaves marry and produce offspring within their class. More talks about how women are put under strict rules before marriage. If a man and a women are engaging in secret intercourse before marriage, they are both chastised and are restricted to ever get married unless somehow the ruler can forgive them and grant them permission. Like most nations, some Utopian household includes a master and his mistress. This is very common because women are not viewed as a sex object therefore it is hard for a man to receive pleasure from a women, and since he’s the master he will take advantage of his slave, since they are usually kept quiet. However, if the master is caught he is punished severely because the Utopians believe in married love, and living with a whole person for the rest of their lives. They do not want men engaging in promiscuous intercourse.

There's a difference between saying something and letting shit slide. Most people will tolerate stuff, up to a point. If they're too much of a pain in the ass, I'd just not hang out with them rather than bother with the trouble of some sort of confrontation. And if it's someone you have to hang out with, that's all the more reason not to make things uncomfortable by making a fuss. Maybe I just have a low EIQ, but I'd almost say that it'd take an a-hole to actually call someone out for being one. And if the person you're calling out really is an a-hole, whatever you say to them will just bounce off of them.

Monday, December 11, 2006 at 8:13 PM anobody, people get what they put out. I completely agree. If someone's too big of an a-hole, the only people who will hang out with them are other a-holes. It's not a-holish to check someone that did or said something out of line. Eh... I agree with lots of caveats (which I kinda went into already). If someone is otherwise reasonable and they just do one a-holish thing, then sure - if you're a good friend of theirs, it's reasonable to talk with them about it, and it'll probably even do some good. On the other hand, if they're just an a-hole, in general, what's the upside? You get to have a confrontation that's not likely to change them. Then (maybe, if you're 'lucky') you've cleared the air and you get to keep hanging out with them. That's great - you've won the ability to hang out with an a-hole. If they're not an a-hole and they do something a little off once, then, again, what's the point? You get to have a confrontation, make them uncomfortable, and curb some behavior that they weren't likely to repeat anyway.

Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at 7:59 PM Edited Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at 7:59 PM I didn't say you said I thought I was a jerk. I just repeated what I said earlier in this thread yet there is still discussion about this. Simply amazing. —Had To Get It On |

Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at 8:53 PM Edited Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at 8:55 PM I've never heard complaints about my personality off line. One would think after all these years, someone would have said something. = if I was a jerk, the subject would have come up by now. —Had To Get It On |

Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at 9:04 PM So by '=' you mean restated in a non-equivalent way. and That's funny. I don't remember ever saying that I thought you were a jerk or an a-hole. —anobody |

Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at 4:39 AM Edited Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at 4:40 AM Those statements are close enough. The second time I just used the word jerk. Any general word for an undesirable personality trait works: jerk, a-hole, jackass. Now if I had said: "No one has ever pegged me as a dense, argumentative, contrarian, nitpicking pest", that would be a little different. He thinks too deeply into everything. One of these days he may actually be right about something. —Had To Get It On |

Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at 5:34 PM The second time I just used the word jerk. Yes. That was the only difference between the two (not that I even consider jerk and a-hole to be interchangeable in the first place). One of these days he may actually be right about something. Keep tellin' yourself that.

Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at 11:30 PM It's legal to call someone hot at any age. -Had To Get It On ...but, as always, consider the source.
Stryker311's brother kinda reminds me of a young Joe Jackson, but with a slightly stronger jaw-line.

Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at 11:33 PM i'm trying to decide if stryker's brother is hot or not. i'm leaning towards not, but there's something about him that makes me question this. i think it's the jawline. i mean, i know it's the jaw line. —mandeemoo22 |
