Edited Friday, December 1, 2006 at 2:54 PM An "evil" gun collector who spent nearly two decades subjecting young boys to a "catalogue of cruel sexual abuse" has been jailed for 16 years.
A plumber, used his collection of weaponry and war memorabilia to lure vulnerable victims into his clutches before "stealing their childhood innocence".
Two of those he assaulted said they were so scared by the armoury of rifles and bayonets he had that they felt unable to fend off the "sexual predator's" advances.
The Court heard they were also convinced that, should they dare reveal their suffering, the paedophile would "kill" them.
As a result, the youngsters, along with his other victims, kept their torment a secret well into adulthood.
It was only after one of them became a father and felt he could no longer cope with his inner turmoil that the police were called in and the man arrested.
He also had his dozen gun licences withdrawn.
The investigation resulted in others he had targeted also coming forward to detail their ordeals.
He was convicted of seven counts of buggery and 13 of indecent assault involving four victims - Three were children aged just seven, 10, and 12 when they were targeted, while the fourth was a young man of 19.
