Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at 3:48 PM I voted straight Libertarian... ...voted "no" on all the scumbag/arrogant "judges"... ...wrote in someone for Sheriff because both candidates make me sick (because they believe in allowing the federal government to USE the sheriff as a surrogate to enforce unconstitutional federal "laws," under the phony guise of "cooperation" with the federal government)... ...voted "no" on a stupid permanent tax increase that's supposed to "save" us from traffic congestion... ...voted "no" on all 3 propositions to issue bonds and saddle the taxpayer with more endless debt... ...left several positions like "auditor" blank because A. I don't care, and B. I don't know either candidate and can't be like most dumbed down americans who in that situation vote for an unknown candidate. —striker |

Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at 4:24 PM Edited Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at 4:25 PM I'm not old enough to vote, however if I were... Minnesota US Senate Race [x] Mark Kennedy (R) [ ] Amy Klobuchar (D) [ ] Robert Fitzgerald (I) [To be fair, I almost would've voted for him. Liked a lot of ideas I heard in the debates.] Minnesota's 6th Congressional District Race [ ] Michelle Bachman (R) [ ] Patty Wetterling (D) [x] John Binkowski (I) I cannot STAND either Bachman or Wetterling. I know striker will piss himself when he sees I didn't vote Republican. Minnesota Gubnatorial Election [x] Tim Pawlenty (Incumbent) (R) [ ] Mike Hatch (D) [ ] Peter Hutchinson (I) Pawlenty gets my vote because he was in favor of the Minnesota Twin's Stadium Bill. He did a solid job getting Minnesota out of its 400+ billion dollar deficit and worked through a government shutdown. Constitutional Transportation Amendment [ ] Yes [x] No Would take taxes on cars and allot them completely for Public Transportation. The only reason I said no, was because the provisions in the amendment are very questionable, saying "a minimum of 40% of the funds used for local and regional public transit." Great. But the thing that worries me is that there is no mandatory maximum. Doesn't say that 100% of the funds need to be put towards anything, which worries me. I think I covered all of them. I would've voted for the Mayor candidate that wants to stop development in my town [we have a beautiful river valley that's being threatened by taller buildings and if they keep expanding like they are, the views will be encroached on by tall buildings. Also, we're developing the hell out of most of the open land making them into "Super Wal-Marts" and crappy town home developments. Freaking sick of all this damn development coming into this little suburb.] No real preference on the sheriff candidates. Haven't looked into it enough. Haven't heard anything about the judges either. I heard today though that all but one is running unopposed. —andrewwagner777 |

Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at 5:42 PM Edited Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at 5:43 PM *edit* Anyone want to explain to me what happened with this mysterious 'other thread'? I know striker will piss himself when he sees I didn't vote Republican. I know I did*. I voted just about straight Democratic (not because I care much for most of the ones who are running, they're just *slightly* more palatable than the Republicans and Independents they're running against). Really got pissed off at the local Democrats this year for the novelty levels of negative campaigning (and the ones I saw at the rally with Bill Clinton almost uniformly sucked ass). Still, couldn't bring myself to vote against them for any of the offices that matter. Not much noteworthy. Voted against Sherif Joe. Voted for the smoking ban sponsored by the American Heart Association and American Lung Association, and against the 'ban' sponsored by RJR and Phillip Morris. Voted against the cigarette tax increase (I hate cigarettes but I think the proposition was unconstitutional and unfair). Voted against the BS 'protect marriage' thing. Also voted against all of the props set up to fuck over illegals and their families. Finally, voted against the 'public land trust' proposition that gets voted down every year only to resurface the next. *no, not really

Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at 6:25 PM I also sent in my absentee ballot. I voted for O'Malley for governor, even though I like the green party candidate, Ed Boyd better. But, that's clearly a waste of a vote. I also voted for Cardin for Senate, even though I'm upset that Kwesi Mfume lost the primary. And I voted for John Sarbanes for House of Reps even though he was my elementary school basketball coach and never let me play. I'm still a little bitter. Actually, I'm a lot bitter. And I voted yes for question 1, which was about having the General Assembly approve the selling of public lands (like open spaces, parks, etc). That's the only one I really cared about, so I didn't vote for the rest. —mandeemoo22 |

Somehow I picture most people just voting on them based on the weather or the last sign they saw ("Prop 204 - it's hogwash" ~ actually, for that prop, as soon as I saw one of those signs, I was 98% confident that I'd vote against it, and just glancing at the website sealed the deal; I still read the giant newsprint pamphlet's section on it and all of the pros/cons, but only for comedic effect) —anobody |

Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at 10:28 PM fagner77777, don't deflect the fact that your party of "patriot" act fascism got the asses handed to them tonight. As far as the women/muslim who won tonight, I WANTED the dems to take control to shake things up and challenge your evil liar of a president. You talk about it as if there already WEREN'T women everywhere infesting congress, and tonight they finally made it in. Btw, I didn't know "muslim" was race, idiot. The airhead gloats about a couple blacks in congress as IF that's a new thing. Gad she's stupid, so I'll repeat: I WANTED the dems to take the house, and I've been clear about that for months. Thursday, November 9, 2006 at 8:28 PM The Democrats' victory in the 2006 election has been compared to the Republicans' in 2004. But the Democrats actually did a lot better in terms of the vote. The Democrats received 56% of the average district vote for the two parties in 2006, whereas the Republicans only averaged 51.6% in 1994. There was a big jump in 2006. Here's the time series:
