Friday, August 11, 2006 at 3:56 PM isn't it ironic that many people refer to Jr College as JuCo? I mean it's a safe bet you won't find Jews at the Juco. —shortwave5205 |

Friday, August 11, 2006 at 4:39 PM I actually have heard of JuCo, that's all anyone around here calls it, besides "community college". I am actually going to take a class at a JuCo here in town this fall, any tips on surviving it, or is it not as bad as Adam and others have made it out to be? —drakeguy19 |

Friday, August 11, 2006 at 6:19 PM I think it may depend on the state or community the JuCo is in. Also, I think it may help if you just don't know any different. —Batman |

Friday, August 11, 2006 at 10:05 PM I think "JC" is more west coast, while JuCO is more east coast and midwest. Though "JuCo" is a common phrase for those who follow college sports. —I Say Good Day |

Friday, August 11, 2006 at 10:22 PM I've never heard the phrase JuCo until now. For that matter, I'd never actually heard it called Junior College until I started listening to Loveline; around here (New York), it's Community College. —ItHadToBeJew |

Saturday, August 12, 2006 at 3:19 PM I think the term "city college" is more an East Coast thing. It certainly makes it sound more prestigious than it actually is. And what about the term "night school"? Where the hell is a night school? Is that a school that's only open at night? (Seinfeld voice) "What is the deal there? What's the deal?" —drakeguy19 |

Saturday, August 12, 2006 at 6:32 PM The first time I ever heard the term JuCo was on Sportscenter and it was in the phrase "JuCo transfer" as in a basketball player getting a shot in Division A. I thought that meant the player was from Jamaica or something. I've heard community college on the East Coast and junior college on the West Coast. I've never heard of city college, maybe that's a Midwest thing. —greymatters |

Saturday, August 12, 2006 at 11:13 PM I don't buy it - it's all a front. I've always wanted to go to Santa Barbara City College. It has a really nice campus Last fall I was at UCLA for a conference. One day, I drove up to visit UCSB's to see about a postdoc position. That was the craziest campus I've ever seen - classroom and office buildings on one side of the street, the fucking ocean on the other. —anobody |
