Costume party last Halloween. Everybody had to come as a video game character. I'm not much of a gamer but my ex was a huge fan of one called Maniac Mansion and we've both got lab coats laying around so she suggested Dr. Fred Edison. The bald guy in the background came as Hitman (another game I've never played, and you can't tell from the pic, but he did a great job with the costume). The guy in the yellow came as Pac Man (he had a huge yellow Pac-Man head but took it off because it was too hot and unwieldily). The guy behind me to the left was some other character I've never heard of (it's not Link from Zelda but I got the impression he was a similar character in a similar game). My ex went as Lara Croft (did a pretty good job of it too). There were a bunch of other people there including a couple of good friends from England who went back (one's tenure-track faculty at Oxford now, if you can believe that). The party started out well, but ended on a sour note. Our friends who hosted it are huge fans of a game called "Super Bomber Man". My ex was getting into decorative baking stuff and made an elaborately decorated cake of the game. Everybody went out on a scavenger hunt, but the cake, and our friends' dogs, stayed behind. I'm sure you can see where I'm going. My ex was devastated that only 1-2 people got to see the cake she put so much time and effort into and attempted to drown her troubles. I've never before had the displeasure of sitting in the bathroom for hours with someone who's puking and suffering the effects of alcohol poisoning (now that was lame; started out fun and ended up my worst memory with her). Long enough answer for ya? —anobody |

Follow up question, why do all your pictures (and by that, I mean the two I've seen) look like a kid wearing his dad's clothes? No idea in this case.
