Thursday, July 13, 2006 at 11:35 AM Edited Thursday, July 13, 2006 at 11:36 AM when i first heard the word euthanaisa, I heard it as "Youth in Asia" which I assumed meant China's policy against babies. But no. I was wrong. Although that baby problem in china is pretty bad, those babies are taking over uterus by uterus. —A Guy in a Chair |

Thursday, July 13, 2006 at 3:00 PM Edited Thursday, July 13, 2006 at 3:01 PM the UN needs a final solution. i think i have it. i call it "the middle eastern holocaust". "ok, you middle eastern retards. everyone has had an assload of your crap. you've had hundreds and hundreds of years to work it out and we've decided it's never going to happen. so, here's what we are going to do. you have 30 days to figure it out and stop behaving like it's 200BC or we are going to make a parking lot out of the entire region. we realize that many innocent people will die. we're just going to call it acceptable loss. now, get to work! i want to see some new treaties by the end of this week!" —plurry |

Thursday, July 13, 2006 at 9:37 PM I've decided this recently. As a Jew, I feel like I have some sort of responsibility to help protect the Palestinian people. I know that I can't really make much of a contribution, but after spending a year at a predominately Jewish school and seeing the insanity and racism of my own people. The Jews have been oppressed throughout history, but as soon as we get some power and become the majority (as is the case at Brandeis), we become the oppressors. I don't know, I guess I have a version of white guilt, like Jew guilt. Oh, and I'm watching David Lee Roth on Conan. What's with the soft country shit? It's very awkward. —mandeemoo22 |

Thursday, July 13, 2006 at 10:41 PM Isn't it bluegrass and not country? WAY TMI (between this and the NASCAR, it's like I don't even know you). The Jews have been oppressed throughout history, but as soon as we get some power and become the majority (as is the case at Brandeis), we become the oppressors. Isn't that kinda true of all people? I understand how you feel but it's not like you're personally responsible for the situation (or that the Palestinianians are innocent). Still, I do admire your initiative (and I do believe that your contribution can make a real difference). —anobody |

Friday, July 14, 2006 at 8:43 AM I agree with mandeemoo22. As an observant Jew, but most of all as a human being, I feel compassion for those suffering in the Middle East. There have been I think 75 civilian casualties so far in Lebanon after about two days. That's a travesty. Israel's disproportionate retaliation toward Lebanon is a shame. I seriously believe this will become a full-fledged war in a couple of weeks... —Sassafras Roots |

Except instead of 30 days make it like 1 hour, becuase 30 days would just give them time to unite against us, and you know perfectly well they're not going to clean up their act in 30 days if they've had millenia in which to do it. So make it a ridiculously small amount of itme. It'll be like telling them a joke, and the punchline is the part where they die at the end. —Dark Laith |

Friday, July 14, 2006 at 9:35 PM Hmmm..... Always kind of bothered me that such traditional American names such as Salem come directly from the middle east.
It would be nice if they changed their city name to Jeruva or something and left Salem right the F out of it. I prefer to imagine that area as being on some distant planet where the carnage is so plentiful from day to day even satan himself would blush. good people though, good people...grrrrrrreat people. I think their may be something in the soil over their though that is responsible for all of the......uh...............ya know the uh............................well.........ya know.... hmmmmm........................not as much tourism as their used to be over there tho huh???...........I wonder why... —AbsolutCarib |

Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 4:06 AM Frankly the Isrealis are being the bullies and treating everybody to the treatment they endured in the past. That does not make it right and it also makes me feel they are not deserving of all the support that the US and it's lapdog (thats us brits by the way) will surely be giving them. They are picking on the Palestinians and the Lebonese because they don't really like or want peace because then the USA would not need to keep supporting them. The easiest thing to do is to Kill everybody in the whole middle east - men, women and children assimilate the land under the American flag (or the English one I would not be too proud to accept a gift) and then send all our criminals over there instead of putting them in prison. Look at Australia we brits sent all our scum over there and 100 years later they are a highly evolved and civillised nation who beat our asses at all sports. —AceRockollaisAce |

Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 6:02 AM don't be silly. you only need to look at the history of Israel. every couple of years a bunch of autocratic Arab countries get together, attack it, and get their asses kicked. then they beg and whine to the U.N. and Israel returns their land. Israel withdrew from southern Lebanon in 2000, but Lebanon let Hezbollah stay (because they're afraid of them) and fire rockets into Israeli towns and raid for 6 years. they're justified enough. —i am a tree |

Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 7:33 PM Note that I didn't say I'm all behind it. It's just such a ridiculous cycle of "they started it", disproportionate response, and both sides eagerly attacking civilian targets (including civilians) that they seem to be in need of a parental figure to come in, grab 'em both by the ear and to tell them "I don't care who started it, I don't care what they did or what you did, I'm ending it". Unless someone actually wants to be a man about the whole thing, stand up and say "we've both been vengeful bigoted jerks, I'm not gonna do it any more", the parking lot solution doesn't seem all that unreasonable (especially if it just ends up expediting what they'd both do to each-other anyway). —anobody |

Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 8:02 PM Edited Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 8:03 PM God I wish they would cut it out over there, it is a miserable wretched thing to have see in the news everyday. In my book... "50 strikes and Your Out". I pose the idea that The UN should let them know that they are around 46 strikes right now and thats its getting close to that point where we just go in take the land from them and divide it up or turn it into a natural reserve, and put them all to work on fishing boats, good pay too, so, ya know. Ya know, Ive seen this kind of self sabotage, in families and personal relationships and bad business management and poor sports franchise management. Over the years ive come to think that sabotaging yourself or your own organization, consciously or unconsciously has got to be the stupidest, most assenine instinct or drive that a humans can be flawed with. Whenever I step back and realize that I am the one getting in my own way, i find it embarrassing and try to fix the problem discretely, because thats how stupid it is to not see that you are sabotaging yourself. In my book, that is. The Israelis and Palestinians have gotten them selves into a real nice cycle here. I wonder how much of it has to do with stupidity, and the inability over the years to step back and look at the big picture, and see that its self sabotage. —AbsolutCarib |

Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at 10:26 PM i don't think the twins have been mismanaged. they're just underfunded. sure rondell white and tony bautista were busts this year, but not a ton of money was gambled like say... the mariners with adrian beltre in 2005. they also tend to develop their own players like mauer, cuddyer, morneau, kubel and liriano. tori hunter and brad radke are other homegrowns. they also stole joe nathan from the giants a few seasons passed. johan santana was a rule 5 pick years ago. that worked out alright. ron gardenhire is a hack though. fire his ass. i'm a fan of twins baseball. good for them that they are getting a new stadium in 2009. —plurry |

Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at 10:30 PM Actually it's set to open in 2010 I think. And I'm VERY impressed you could name all those Twins players. Usually nobody besides AL Central towns can name 2 Twins let alone most of their lineup. Well we had a legit shot at Thome and passed on him because TR thought he was an "injury risk". Looks like his "injury risk" is paying dividends for Chicago. And imagine him with that short left field fence at the Dome...Damn I'm thinking 45+ homers. I hate how cheap we are and how timid we are in terms of free agency. We're NEVER mentioned as front runners for players at the trade deadline [Soriano anyone?] and the only deals we make are for tools like Bret Boone. I don't think Gardy is that bad a manager...Heck he got all these young guys to play together through TOUGH TIMES [bad pitching when that was sposed to be our mainstay] and keep us hovering around in the Central/Wild Card. Plus that 19-1 span we had in June [or was it Julyish?] wasn't bad either. —andrewwagner777 |

Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at 10:44 AM Edited Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at 10:47 AM Okay I retract that comment about the Twins. I'm just really pissed at Carl Pohlad and his cheapness. The guy is LITERALLY 90 years old.
He's ranked 78th on the Forbes Richest 400 people in America, yet he has the Twins on a BUDGET of less than 70 million dollars, which is chump change for the Sox and the Yankees. It's like srsly, what is he waiting around for!? He's going to be DEAD in a few years. Why not spend some money, get the Twins to the World Series, and die. IMO, cheapness by a fucking billionare=bad management. He bought the team for just 36 million in the '80s and by 2002, tried to have them CONTRACTED. CONTRACTED. He has no balls whatsoever...Even for his own induction into the Twins Hall of Fame I don't believe he made an on the field appearance. How retarded is he that he thinks he belongs in the Twins hall of fame? I bet 99% of Minnesota fans hate his guts. He'd get booed to DEATH if he appeared at a game. —andrewwagner777 |
