We need to do a better job of promoting our podcast I think

Every show segment is podcast now usually between 1-2 hours after it is on the air, you can subscribe or view the archive either at 971freefm.com, adam.freefm.com or at the link AceRock posted

We'd also like to start kicking out some in-studio videos, so if any fans have thoughts on what they'd like to see, please let us know: marc@adamcarolla.com

Thanks all

Yeah... um.... about that, Marc - I've seen your podcast before and it's kinda nice but it's still a huge pain in the ass if you want to hear the whole show instead of just a few bits.

What I want is to be able to download the show, in its entirety (ideally with all the commercials edited out).

I'm probably in the minority here but if the price was reasonable, I might even be willing to pay a little for the privilege.

Why is that too much to ask? (if you automated it properly, it'd take even less effort than what you're doing).

*edit* - bummer

The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.

That won't happen; it's not a matter of whether we could or not -- offering suggestions on how to do it is nice of everybody who does, but we could probably figure it out if we were instructed to :)

Again as I've said, it's not a "few segments" -- it's the whole show, every day, with no commercials, podcasted in order, while it's airing.

Carolla is the only show on FREE FM that receives that treatment, with the exception of Opie and Anthony, and that's being offered as a pay-for podcast by Audible and XM.

Trust us, if we could offer it as one huge file, we would. It's not technologically infeasible, we just can't do it. That's not how we want to offer the content, and the majority of our feedback indicates that people love the way we're doing it, aside from a very vocal minority, most of whom are technologically inclined enough to edit the show together into one file themselves (if you properly automated it, it wouldn't be difficult :D)

In that case, I apologize (obviously I had a knee-jerk reaction and didn't look closely enough).

If the whole thing is there with no gaps then there isn't much point

aside from a very vocal minority,

It's not that I don't trust your sampling techniques or your statistical analysis but I don't trust your sampling techniques or your statistical analysis.

Like I said, if it's all there, there's no difference between you concatenating them and me downloading all the bits and playing them back-to-back. I'm not even saying that you're wrong about it being a vocal minority - I just wonder if that's accurate or not.

Anyway, I really do appreciate the work, have subscribed to the podcast, and am grateful to have an officially blessed way to listen to the show.

Thanks, Marc (and thanks for the thread, Ace :-)

Spiffy Marc -
I appreaciate what you do, I only found the link myself yesterday as I had gotten pissed off with the small bits on offer at the westwood none site and once I found it I posted it for the others like me who cannot listen live or as is my case dont even live in the US - I live in England (and am English) so even finding Carolla is something for me.
Keep up the good work, large files or small i dont care as long as I can get my Adam fix -

Now that you mention the Westwood site, Ace, I think that's where I originally got the idea that the podcast was incomplete (when I saw Marc's / the FreeFM one, I just ass-u-me-d that it was the same one).

Small update / further retraction after using the piecemeal podcast - I haven't had to do it yet but if there were ever a boring / annoying bit, it would be great just to be able to fast forward past it without having to find the end of it.

My only remaining complaint is that I think you guys need a fatter pipe, a server with more horsepower under the hood or both (it's kinda a bitch that the segment downloads only work occasionally for me; on the other hand, it's great that you've got enough demand that you'd have that problem :-) .

LOL - the double entendre didn't even occur to me :D

Marc - if you read this, I have another complaint besides capacity. I've heard that damn square table beer commercial just under 10^27 times.

I'm not kidding when I say I'd be willing to pay for a commercial free version. You probably don't know or can't tell me how much each one of those spots costs per-listener but I've gotta think it's on the order of pennies per show.

I know it'd be a pain to have a 'free' version paid for by commercials and a for-fee / commercial free version but if there's someone you can pass my vote up to who's in a position to ignore it, please do.
