He admitted this on the show last night. He was mostly doing it to thank the people who had said good things about him, but he did in fact mention that people were talking shit to him too. If we send angry, vitriolic emails en masse, it will not only "get through," but he will see them. Granted, this isn't exactly convincing the management to get someone else, but maybe we could hammer his self-esteem into the ground to the point where he is convinced that people hate him and don't want him to host the show. I know, that's excessively cruel, but it needs to be done. Like I and many others have said, Drew alone is better than Stryker as cohost.

I emailed him well before loveline, when he was on air doing his regular show...had one reply within 15 minutes, and a second before I could even reply. Then my wife emailed him when he on loveline, much less friendly...no reply that I know of.

While I think it's harsh I think it'd be effective. Most people in the biz are used to negative emails and whatnot. But enough of them will give him the message that he isn't welcomed by Loveline fans.

Haha, keep on emailing. It'll keep him on the air. They like to track how many people are listening by the amount of email they receive sometimes. It's pretty common for the hosts of some late night radio hosts in Seattle. Hate mail, or fan mail, they'll just sum it up to more people listening.

Anyone think we could try and improve the son of a bitch instead of trashing him?

If we send en masse hate mail, it'll just look like a bunch of jack offs trashing someone for no reason. I'm thinking constructive criticism (although a little bit of destructive can't hurt)

IMO if we really want results, we should do the above.

I refuse to give you suggestions for getting better Stryker!

But seriously, the only way to make Stryker right for the show be to knock all of the DJ out of him and turn him into a real human being. We would have to change who he is entirely and that will never work.

I just can't believe LL management taunted us with all those potential hosts then copped out with Stryker.

I am sure that with Stryker at the helm they will return Loveline to its past glory...a once a week show for the local market Sunday at midnight.

I have never written one of these angry e-mails before, but I'm doing it now.

Hey Stryker,

I have been a long time listener of Loveline and have listened to a few shows that you have co-hosted since Adam left. I was only able to listen to a few shows because you have caused the show to go significantly downhill. The show has not only been educational and helpful, but also entertaining. You are none of those things. I'm sure you must be a fan of the show and would want to make sure that it survives. It would be selfish of you to continue co-hosting. You add nothing to the show. Dr. Drew gives sincere, thoughtful advice. A co-host would need to be able to be as sincere as Drew, but also make us laugh and entertain us when the mood gets too dark. Some favorites among Loveline fans have been Daniel Tosh and Joel McHale. These two are able to fulfill the co-hosting duties. You, however, are not. I'm sure you are filled with sincerity, but you have failed to be entertaining. I don't know if you plan on trying to become the permanent co-host, but I strongly urge you to not. You would be much more appreciated if you quit doing the show on your own instead of continually co-hosting, which upsets the show's most loyal fans. Loveline is supposed to be for the listeners, not for the hosts. I understand that you like yourself, but the listeners don't like you. Please be fair to us and no longer co-host Loveline.

Thanks,

Mandee

P.S. For what it's worth, you're attractive.

Dearest Stryker,

I am emailing you as a longtime listener of Loveline. Since the departure of Adam, there have been many replacements that I would've considered suitable. Among my favorites are Joel McHale, Daniel Tosh, and Patton Oswald. Thanks to low ratings, the radio station in my city has dropped Loveline off its airwaves. I've been streaming the show through various radio stations since then and have come to a very startling conclusion: YOU ARE RUINING LOVELINE! There is a fan base out in Listener-ville that has a great deal of discontempt for you. I realize Dr. Drew and yourself get along, and that you are so full of yourself that you see yourself as the next Adam. The true fans, who are unbiased in their thinking, do not. An overwhelming majority of fans dispise you. As a frequent visitor to the Loveline Companion (dolland.net/loveline), which is widely considered the most frequented Loveline-related website, I have noticed (and even posted) my fair share of anti-Stryker comments and threads. These are not mere coincidences. You are a cancer to the show, and you are bringing it to its knees. As you know, several stations have dropped Loveline not only in my area, but all around the country. Should there be a SUITABLE [and WELL LIKED] replacement, [not you] many stations would consider bringing it back because the stability equals higher ratings. As long as you stay on as the show's cohost, you will continue to lose listeners as well as much needed ratings. The show is over 20 years old, and is more important than any one person, including yourself. Dr. Drew is one of my biggest role models, but I can't imagine his reasons for keeping you as the cohost. You are hated by MANY Loveline fans, and you need to be the bigger man and step down. The Loveline fans recently voted in a poll on KROQ's website and voted Daniel Tosh in as their choice for Loveline Cohost. While you weren't on the poll, I guarantee you would be lower than the lowest option, "Dr. Drew only". That is how unliked you are. You are neither helpful, nor are you funny in the least. With Adam, I laughed during Loveline. With Daniel Tosh and Joel McHale and Patton Oswald, I laughed. I can't remember the last time I legitimately laughed while you have been on the show. Dr. Drew needs an insightful and HUMEROUS cohost, and you do not fit the bill.

PLEASE STEP DOWN! The hate mail will only continue as long as you remain cohost. Don't commit career suicide. This will eventually begin to affect your likeability in other aspects of your KROQ career for the worse.

Andrew.

P.S. You suck and you aren't funny.

i agree with will too. those emails are really harsh and i think you are going about it the wrong way. like another poster said management is more responsible for the decision. it would be more effective to email producer ann (she's still in charge right?) than to pressure a host to step down since he was probably vying for the position if he accepted it. i think drew is very comfortable with stryker handling the guests. i'm just glad they didn't give it to danny bonadouche. maybe joel mchale and daniel tosh said no to the offer because their comedic careers conflicted with the 5 nights a week commitment. Or maybe stryker was more affordable...who knows? but those emails are really cruel to someone who is just being himself and doing his job. as much as adam likes getting his ego stroked, he explicitly stated that he didn't want what you guys are doing.

Producer Ann is a marshmallow. This is KROQ management trying to keep Stryker around (happy and well paid).

Stryker is also a lick-spittle people pleaser. By letting the fan base know that the emails are getting to him, he brought the wrath upon himself. Even my wife is writing emails to get him to "stop. please god stop."

/\ FWIW, according to Dr. Drew, the decision on cohost will ultimately be made by KROQ's Program Director, Kevin Weatherly.

^No link?!?!?!?!

He tried but missed an '='

<A HREF"http://theunfunnytruth.ytmnd.com/">Scientology</A>

I'm not gonna comment much on the nasty emails but I do tend to agree with everyone who said they're a bit mean spirited.

Also, I think Masteel has a point. Think of Howard Stern - the people who hate him seem to listen more than the people who like him and the business isn't getting people to like you, it's having ears to listen to advertising spiels.

Whatever the context, every time management sees Stryker's name in an email or physical letter, no matter how vitriolic or cruel (in fact, the stronger the emotion, the more weight in favor of keeping him), I'd guess that they count it as a vote for him.

If you have to send something, my guess is that a simple, dispassionate "I used to love and listen to Loveline regularly when Adam was on. Now that Stryker/whoever is on, I'm no longer listening." would be more effective.

Yes, WW1 would clearly have to sign off, and would have some say...but, in the end, they only re-sell the show that KROQ produces. Okay, both are owned by the same company...but WW1 really doesn't care about loveline...they probably get more out of being the official NHL radio broadcaster when you get down to it.

Adam always talked about the KROQ programme director coming down on him for talking too much, and on Anderson for playing too many drops. WW1 was never mentioned at all. The only time they paid any notice is when Adam threatened to not come in, or destroyed the thermostat.

However, I am surprised they have not brought more pressure on the mother station to just name a host already.

I wonder if this is to be interpreted that they have gotten close to naming a successor, only to have it fall through. I am thinking Bonadouche. I also wonder of they went hard for Carson Daly, only to have that not work out.

if adam had never been on loveline, stryker would probably just be doing the drive-time show.

the only reason he is where he is is because there happened to be a very popular nationally syndicated radio show broadcast from the same building he was in that he could attach himself to

he is where he is not through merit or hard work, but just through his own stubbornness coupled with craptastically retarded management

also - you're comparing him with local radio personalities when you say he's not that bad compared with other personalities (and even that isn't saying much)
