I saw a few select clips, but after seeing the entire speech, and realizing that Bush was literally at the same table as Colbert fucking slammed Bush's face into the ground, wiped his face with salt and feces, then repeated, I was laughing my ass off. No litteraly, I lost 29 pounds of ass.

Perhaps it's the fact that I'm a Bush supporter, but I didn't find it very funny. I mean I thought it was clever but it didn't have me laughing out loud or anything. It was the performance you'd expect from a comedian who's target(s) are actually in the room. I don't think that was his best Bush material, but then again that's to be expected in such a refined and formal audience. Don't get me wrong, I love Stephen Colbert, but it wasn't his best.

Oh well that was hilarious. But the material he did IN the room wasn't that great.

EDIT: I think he was holding back because he realized he was ripping on the most powerful man in the World. Or he suddenly felt guilty about ripping on him when he's sitting 10 feet away. Having your target in the room tends to do that to people.

I think he was holding back

Did you even scroll down past those clips to watch the news report about how they thought he went to far? Pardon me, but openly calling Bush's presidency a Hindenburg to his face is not holding back. Neither was calling supporters of Bush 'backwash'.

But the material he did IN the room wasn't that great.
So you would have enjoyed it more if he thrased Bush harder? (both literally and metaphorically) Please. The material Colbert did was awesome. If he had somehow tried to verbally rape Bush more, he wouldn't have been allowed on stage, or would have been shot. Did you see Bush's face whenever they cut to him? He wasn't laughing, or smiling, he looked none to happy. He shook Colbert's hand at the end, and he didn't smile or wink, Bush looked pissed the entire time. He was being made into the fool he is, and he knew it.

That was pure balls. Huge, giagantic, teeming with sperm, balls.

Edit: I just realized I didn't link the site, I apologize for the copy and pasting you all must go through. If you don't feel like doing so, please refer to here

...I'm a Bush supporter...

—andrewwagner777

so, what of Bush do you support? The lax gun laws, the fucking of the environment, the taunting of terrorists, the lack of culpability for mistakes, the "education reform" rejected by educators nationwide, the cutting of taxes for the rich, the disinterest in hybrid vehicle technology, the woeful trade/international finance policy, the insane miliatry spending, the 3-decades-too-late announcement of our return to the moon, the invocation of god in nearly every speech, the self-admission of not being a reader despite having a librarian spouse... or maybe you earn over 150k a year, in which case it might be in your best financial interest to vote for Bush. I think I left a couple things out.

Now here's where you call me a democrat pussy. Except that I'm not a democrat.

I just don't have much trust/respect for anyone who claims to think the Bush Admin is doing a good job. I'll lump those people in with the people who claim they don't like coffee, or don't like chocolate, or beer, or tv, but mostly with those who don't like to read.

btw, tortilla, thanks for the acp shows on the hub, finally seeing them for the 1st time, they're really fun to watch.

Fine, to each his own; I'm just sick of all the sniping back and forth that we all know isn't going to have any impact, or convince anyone to change sides.

You are welcome. TACP was an enjoyable thing. I [Heart] Ray.

I love that thing too (though Ray was my favorite; gotta love a guy who's doing masonry demo work in slippers).

OH JESUS CHRIST NOT ANOTHER DEBATE THREAD

Politics, it's part of life, sweetcakes.

Don't get me wrong, I love Stephen Colbert, but it wasn't his best.

I thought he performed admirably, myself. Amazing how little coverage this got when it came out (people at work pointed me to it but they're a bunch of intellectual elite liberal pussies so they're
expected to know about that sort of thing).

That was pure balls. Huge, giagantic, teeming with sperm, balls.

I agree.

Now if the Bush administration actually knew what they were getting into when they invited him, I'd say that shows a lot of balls (though, I strongly suspect, they just bought into his O'riley impersonation hook, line and sinker).

the disinterest in hybrid vehicle technology

I'm no Bush supporter but in the guy's defense, he has recently, after being dragged kicking and screaming by the balls, kinda gotten a little behind it (though he seems more interested in ADM's ethanol from corn thing which, IIRC, actually consumes more energy than it yields).

Fine, to each his own; I'm just sick of all the sniping back and forth that we all know isn't going to have any impact, or convince anyone to change sides.

I strongly disagree.

First, debate, in and of itself, can be useful, even if doesn't change anyone's mind.

Second, if you'd actually bother to read bits of the debate thread you'd see that both Andrew and I have conceded points so, it actually does have an impact and serves to educate us both (I can't speak for him but I for one have a better understanding of where he's coming from than I did before).

Finally, there's fun in sniping back and forth. Can you imagine how dull things would be if we only talked about things everyone agreed on?

NEWSFLASH: coffee tastes like hell. I enjoy the buzz, but that's it. I know many people agree with me. It's not an "acquired taste," it's gross. Not only is it bitter and burnt-tasting, but there is a truly disgusting sour aftertaste that stays with you for the rest of the day.

And that's why I drink Vault.
