Friday, June 2, 2006 at 9:41 PM I was thinking today about how Celebrity Poker Showdown is like Loveline. The first season, it was Phil Gordon (Poker expert) and Kevin Pollak (color commentator). Phil Gordon is an expert in his field (poker), but not funny at all, like Dr. Drew. In this first season, Kevin Pollak would not only do the comedy, but the majority of poker talk, Phil would only speak up when prompted by Kevin. This reminds me of (what I believe was) the Drew/Poorman shows. After Kevin Pollak left, Dave Foley came onto the show. Dave just did the comedy, and Phil would jump in all the time with poker talk, when he tried to be funny, he failed. Just like Drew/Adam Loveline! Now we've got Dave Foley with Phil Helmuth. Phil Helmuth is not funny, doesn't seem to be great at giving advice/commentary, and is even worse than Phil (G.) at comedy. Just like Bruce/Adam Loveline! Phew. True story. Srsly. —mikeyfish |

Friday, June 2, 2006 at 10:31 PM I think because of the loss of Adam, they don't dare do a show without Drew there for some bit of consistency. And with Drew there, there is no need for Bruce. I miss him also though. He and Adam had some great shows together. In Adam's words, Bruce was always "adequate." —Mayonnaise |
