Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at 5:32 PM Well, this is the first time since Adam left the show that anyone besides Dr. Drew has introduced the show, the phone number, the callers' names, and a few other things in the show not done since Adam left. This, coincidentally is the first show since Dr. Drew, Producer Anne's and Joel's dinner meeting. So this can ONLY mean that Joel McHale will be the new co-host, or at least is the front runner to be the future of Loveline. —andrewwagner777 |

Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at 5:46 PM No, it's not the first time. Tosh did the same thing last week. Drew even set it up by saying he was going to kick back for the night and let Daniel do that stuff. —Mayonnaise |

Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at 7:28 PM Oh I spose I didn't catch that Tosh episode. This could be a sign they've narrowed it down at least to McHale, Tosh, and whomever else they do this with. A subliminal way of telling the listeners their thoughts. —andrewwagner777 |

Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at 1:49 AM To properly welcome Mr McHale to the LL family, I will personally bear like 100 of his children, give or take. And to all those hairy assed wee Corollas I have already given birth to, they are en route to Brangelina. I bid them "Good Day".

Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at 2:09 AM After last night I remember why I was so high on Oswalt during his last guest-hosting stint. He has the right combo of humor and sarcasm and a laid back delivery that reminds me a bit of Adam. I'm not saying I like him better than Tosh, but both are right there together in my judgement. I like McHale too, but he's clearly third behind Tosh and Oswalt. —Mayonnaise |

Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at 7:44 AM If you get NBC Seattle (KING) he was on a sketch comedy show. He has been on a number of big ads, Jack in the Box, and either a FedEx or an IBM series (I remember the ad, but not who it was for). —Laxdude |

Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at 8:52 AM I briefly saw Joel McHale recently on an old "Will & Grace." It was a brief role of Grace's date where she finds out that Will's father is having an affair. That was the only part I saw, but I recognized him and realized how tall he is. —pookie |

Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at 11:46 AM I'll listen to some more Joel before I declare a preference, but I'm pulling for Tosh now. Anderson gave him the chance to bash other comics and he didn't do it which was a class move since they all hate each other. —bguirk |

I like McHale too, but he's clearly third behind Tosh and Oswalt. —Mayonnaise Absolutely not. McHale is the first in line, as he's hosted the show the most, and he's good friends with Dr. Drew. EDIT: I just double checked, and McHale has 7 show hosts (possibly more, that's just what's on Loveline Archive) and Tosh has just 4. I LOVED Kyle Cease with the Poopshivers bit, but I don't think that he'd be a realistic candidate. Way too timid to be a cohost. I think Tosh is way too unknown for Loveline (I mean, I know that Adam was previously an unknown, but with the Loveline Market/Listenership falling, they need the biggest name with the biggest positive fan support as posible). McHale is a face that can be seen on a lot of popular TV shows (not starring, obviously) and he has The Soup which is a hilarious show. I like Tosh, but my pick is still McHale. —andrewwagner777 |

Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at 2:09 PM I think Tosh has less shows under his belt because Anderson didn't recommend him until a little more recently. Rob Scheider probably has more than both, but I certainly don't think that qualifies him for the job. As for the level of fame, I've heard more people call in to give Tosh a shout out than I have McHale. In fact, when Drew insists on telling the callers that Joel is with "The Soup", most have no idea what he's talking about. Besides, I think being funnier should weigh into it more than how famous you are, and Tosh and Oswalt are both funnier. Don't get me wrong, I think McHale is funny...just not quite as funny. I guess what realy places him behind Tosh in my opinion is that Tosh will actually challenge Drew and argue with him a little bit. It's too much of a love-fest between McHale and Drew....mostly because Drew won't stop talking about "The Soup." One thing I liked about Adam and his extra-curricular activities is that he would tell stories about funny things that happened behind the scenes, but he never discussed the content of the shows in length, scene by scene. You would get the old "turn my show on your TV with the sound down and listen to us" speech and that was about it. If I want to know what's happening on "The Soup", I'll watch it. That's my two cents. But as I've been saying all along, I would not be upset if McHale gets the job. He's just not my first choice. —Mayonnaise |
