Since I've established my role as asking if people are serious or not...

Today at work I listened to Adam's morning show from the 5'th of april.

On that show, they called Shirley Phelps-Roper who's supposably been heading up a campaign going to the funerals of veterans and demonstrating with signs saying things like "Thank God for Dead Solders"

Now, I'm hoping she's just doing an elaborate bit like Richard Martin.

Anyway, this has probably been covered here before but just so that I can sleep at night, somebody *please* tell me that these guys aren't serious.

Yeah. I bought it at first but when I learned that their website was 'god hates fags dot com', it was so over the top that I started thinking that they must be some sort of sick comedy troupe with a sense of humor in the same vein as Andy Kaufman and who are willing to do anything for a bit of attention.

Hah, even Fox news representatives think they're nuts. That's hilarious.
Really is (that video is scary - even if she were fake, she seems super-creepy / totally nuts)

Can't tell you that. That group was featured in an American Justice episode about the Mathew Shephard killing--they hung around outside his funeral with the "god hates fags" signs and stuff. Very classy. Their fearless (ahem) leader was also perfectly portrayed on a Law and Order SVU episode.

Here is this guy's website. It's so disgusting, but at the same time really funny. Or it would be funny if it wasn't real.
My favorite part is the list of gay bands to watch out for. The parentheses are included in the list on the website. These include:
Bjork (mb)
Ghostface Killah
The Greatful Dead (AIDS)
Marilyn Manson (dark gay)
Morrissey (?questionable?)
Metallica [and then it shows two pictures of the band members touching tongues]
Jay-Z
John Mayer
George Michael (texan)
Nirvana
Eminem
Ted Nugent (loin cloth)
Elton John (really gay)
there are a lot more

"Safe bands" are:
The Right Brothers (the list!)
Dresden Dolls
UnderOath
Cyndi Lauper
Falling Up
Flyleaf
THE TURNING
Disciple
P.O.D
Evanescence
By The Tree
Scott Reed
Michael W. Smith
Jars of Clay
DC Talk
Danielson

Ano, that fact that she know the verbatim of scripture prooves that this bitch
is from some radical deviant church.

This is just another prime example of people with speaking ability in room full of retards who are extremely easily influenced.
They completely pervert the bible, it would be the same as taking any book in a libary, flipping thru the chapters and converting the facts to suit your own needs.

I think everyone here knows I'm a catholic and if not, well I think I'm living my personal views properly. I personally don't like talking about religion because in every arguement or discussion people ALWAYS walk away from that topic with the beliefs they came into with it. It's most redundant circle I've ever seen, it's worse when drunk people get to blabbing about religion, that's how people die.

In either sense, these are the reasons why I despise certain aspects of organized religion.
The fact that people have faith and a few people pervert it for personal gain.
I'm comfortable with the fact that we all have our own opinions on the matter and regardless of how you flap you gums in this world all anwsers will be revealed when
we all clock out.

Thank you and suck my dick. ;)

My mom actually taught Fred's son John in law school. Not to hate gays, just how to be a lawyer.

These guys used to be anti-abortion, then even the anti-abortion crowd thought Fred was too much of a mad dog for them, so they shut him out, and he got kicked out of a Baptist church and started his own church. The members of his family who are married are married to members of another family who left the Baptist church that Fred Phelps was kicked out of.

These folks have more courage than most americans. To stand against the group like this takes MAJOR courage. I also happen to think that everything on their signs is the truth (most people know it too which is why they get so mad at these sign holders):

You know the ironic thing? Several of the faggy looking guys in this pic from L'oreal's faggy website, if not all of them are probably hetero and own more guns than I do. It's the thin guy niggers that are fags most of the time.

This thread is getting so much more action 9 months in than it did when it was new. Guess it just needed to gestate. Good thing I didn't abort it.

Ano, that fact that she know the verbatim of scripture prooves that this bitch is from some radical deviant church.

I am convinced that she is just a dedicated (crazy) performance artist - like DFG.

Knowing a few lines of scripture (even a lot more than that) is just part of getting into character. Heck - she could have been raised in a religious family - the whole God Hates Fags thing could even just be her way of getting back at daddy (being supremely unqualified to be a whore or a stripper).

If she was raised in a religious family, she'd get comprehensive knowledge of scripture for free - just like someone who had a parent who spoke fluent Japanese getting the language for free.

These folks have more courage than most americans. To stand against the group like this takes MAJOR courage.

Oh come now.

If they actually believe the nonsense they spew, then they think that it's their duty - their obligation - to do what they do. They think that God will punish the heathens by sending them to burn in for all eternity in Hell while they get softly fellated by cherubs in Heaven.

On the other hand, if they're just doing a bit, then (like you) they're looking to get a rise out of people by being 'edgy' (well... even if they believe the shit, they're still trying to get attention and publicity)

Either way, they're nowhere near courageville.

I also happen to think that everything on their signs is the truth (most people know it too which is why they get so mad at these sign holders):

I happen to think that you're just trying to be 'edgy' and controversial.

Even though I'd disagree strongly with you, I'd actually half respect you if I believed for an attosecond that you really believe most of the stuff you say.

As it is, you're just a cheap opportunist. A dollar store knock-off Rush Limburger willing to say or do whatever it takes to get an extra glance from the natives.

To me, that's just pathetic and sad beyond belief - you're not even a racist or religious nut-job or a misogynist.

At least that would be something.

You don't think you have anything of your own to offer so you resort to pretending to take positions that you know think will get you some attention and a little bit of mindshare - even if it's only in the negative sense.
