Sunday, April 30, 2006 at 11:50 PM Ohh yeah... This happened at my school. People won't shut up about it. The campus police at the University of Colorado in Boulder have posted 150 rather damning photos of the annual 420 party at Farrand Field last week and are offering $50 a pop for identifications of the pot-smoking folks in the photos.Lieutenant Tim McGraw said the photos were posted late Thursday evening. When word got out Friday morning, "the phones were ringing off the hook," he told New West. By mid-afternoon Friday, 50 people had been identified, McGraw said. Since Adam is a member of the advisory board of Marijuana Policy Project now, he should have an opinion. Unforunately, I don't feel much sympathy for the potheads. But it should make for some good radio. —ZT-In-Heat |

Sunday, April 30, 2006 at 11:54 PM Edited Sunday, April 30, 2006 at 11:55 PM I can't fucking stand this 420 nonsense. I hate how people giggle and out 420 after screen names, MySpaces, etc.; it's almost as bad as that 69 bullshit. First of all, how many of the people who bandy "69" about on the internet have actually done it? Second, it's highly over-rated. And believe me, I ought to know. I masturbated to it once. People really need a special holiday to get high? Because all my friends seemed to be pretty baked on Christmas. And December 26th. And 27th. And so on. And so on. Idiots. —ItHadToBeJew |

Monday, May 1, 2006 at 6:43 AM ^( One reason for marijuana being illegal is that it is very useful for governing bodies to have veto laws. A veto law being one that forbids an activity that is in no way immoral, dangerous or threatening to society. It also helps if there are parallel activities that are legal and preferably encouraged (in this case, drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes). This way, when citizens break the veto law as a matter of course, the government can at any time arrest a particular citizen on the technicality that is a veto law. Kind of like the heart plugs employed by the Baron Harkonnen. ^( Cute cute

I can't believe you're so insensitive that you would stomp on the graves of the surviving heros of 9/11! You bastard! (edit) MajandraFan's absolutely right there (though I'm not quite sure about the Dune reference). MajandraFan - I'm curious - what's the legal status of pot in Australia and is it as socially acceptable to use it there as it is in the US? —anobody |

Saturday, May 6, 2006 at 3:50 AM Edited Saturday, May 6, 2006 at 3:54 AM I'm amazed at the fact that all those people/students could mobilize and organize for something like smoking pot. (God, I wish there was something like that going on at my university when I was a student!!) Just think at how much different our country would be if the youth of this nation could direct all that energy towards politics and social change. "The prestige of government has undoubtedly been lowered considerably by the prohibition law. For nothing is more destructive of respect for the government and the law of the land than passing laws which cannot be enforced. It is an open secret that the dangerous increase of crime in this country is closely connected with this." Albert Einstein, "My First Impression of the U.S.A.", 1921 —DogBite |

Sunday, May 7, 2006 at 6:51 PM Technicality aside, I side with Stryker here - it does burn my butt that some college students are going to be fucked over just to make the school look like it's being tough on drugs. For our younger readers, though, I want to reiterate Adam's point that it's probably not the best idea to do drugs before the cement's dry in your brain. They are unnecessarily rude and usually very conceited That's probably just because they were bullies in their former lives and they have a nice combination of "I'm going to exercise whatever power I have over people" and "these damn kids are so young and have so much potential and I'm just a stupid cop" going. —anobody |

Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at 12:40 AM When I was in 5'th grade, a police officer came into my science class and lit some pot so that we could smell it and identify it 'in the wild'. Never smelled it again till I went camping and was 21 but I recognized it immediately when I did. No real point to that, I guess. Bringing it back on topic - the smell of both bothers me but I can tolerate pot smoke *slightly* more than cigarette smoke. My x-ish wife smoked pot a number of times in college. Bugged me to no end that she couldn't see the inconsistency between that and claiming to hate smoke. OK, guess that's enough rambling for now. I'm gonna mosey on over to bed. —anobody |

Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at 12:48 PM I can't fucking stand this 420 nonsense. I hate how people giggle and out 420 after screen name My new address will be 420 ****** St. and yes my wife (ocasional pot smoker) and I (haven't smoked since college) snickered about it. My second year in college I lived on High St. This was provided more comedy than 420 will. but I can tolerate pot smoke *slightly* more than cigarette smoke. When I smell pot smoke it makes me want to get high. When I smell cigarette smoke it makes me want to punch someone in the balls. My x-ish wife Mandee will be asking you about this. For what it's worth--isn't Campus Police/Security supposed to be protecting students from rape/robbery/assault? If I were a student at CU I'd be pretty pissed at where their priorities were. —bguirk |
