Time travel back many years or so to JB's in Kent, Ohio, and you'd find a bunch'a guys lookin' for Mandemoo22 ... maybe when Glass Harp was playing there, maybe when they weren't, or maybe just on any other night ... those were good times! —Hans Langer |

Monday, February 27, 2006 at 6:55 PM It's time, way past time, for some Chicago blues from way back when, way back in the 60's ... so don't expect audio perfection here, this's just music that some here might have missed whilst listening to Radiohead and/or Nick Cave and/or [deleted] and/or other angst-ridden poseurs whose music & lyrics & outlook mightily piss off old wankers like ourselves ... I mean, really, why aren't you all having a good time, going out to the clubs, chasing each other around, then waking up on somebody's living room floor and all going out to breakfast somewhere? I Got A Mind To Give Up Living Everything's Gonna Be Alright Work Song Share and enjoy, and i mean that sincerely. You all deserve way better than a lot of the crap that's put in front of you now, in my too-humble opinion. —Hans Langer |

Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at 6:53 PM Ocean Machine I should win a prize for posting the nicest song. Like, I could get some flour on my balls and have them fried in some oil. Tortiya, you should read Arnold : the education of a bodybuilder, specifically the bit about guys who drive nice cars vs guys who drive lesser cars. Of course that will be the censored version, and it doesn't have the luscious blue sky cover, but what can you do in a world of unreality such as ours. I'm sure the analogy will still be there, or whatever. Read it! It's a good book. —MajandraFan |

Thursday, March 23, 2006 at 7:59 PM Might be my favorite band from the 90's. Hmmm, gonna get 'em and listen, or else gm might do something bad to me. But wait, wait, i got one too. This's all in Gaelic/Celtic but you must listen anyway because, well, just because. It's Clannad, it's the tune they wrote for Harry's Game for Brit TeeVee back in 1982. Damn, i just watched the movie on VHS again and it knocked me out, as always. Damn. Share and enjoy.

Saturday, March 25, 2006 at 7:07 PM Hmmm, gonna get 'em and listen, or else gm might do something bad to me. I'm not going to do anything to you, you're free to listen to any music you'd like. The most I'll do is talk about how you like listening to lame music at the cool table. It's Clannad, it's the tune they wrote for Harry's Game for Brit TeeVee back in 1982. Clannad isn't horrible, but it's too Enya sounding to me. What's wrong with a little production? Have you listened to Hooverphonic? Hooverphonic - Eden Hooverphonic - Renaissance Affair acoustic duets are so gay and irresistible
My rebuttal. —greymatters |

Sunday, March 26, 2006 at 2:08 PM Have you listened to Hooverphonic? Just did, it's new to me and not bad at all. Maybe a little too synth'd for my taste but i wouldn't skip it or change the station if Eden was playing. Stretchy, breathy, sort'a rocking in my chair. Hmmm, and Renaissance Affair's got some balls to it, a little more hip action there. But damn, now I'm starting to like Geike Arnaert and this band a whole lot. [edit: Bertolucci, huh? Belgium, huh? Dang, i just bookmarked the band's homepage, damn you gm.] But try Clannad's Newgrange for contrast, and also In Search Of A Heart. There's production, sure, but there's also Maire Brennan singing her t*ts off (esp. on "Heart") (Nobody beats Genya Ravan, tho'. Just wait 'til i find those old Ten Wheel Drive tunes.) The most I'll do is talk about how you like listening to lame music at the cool table. I gots eclectic taste 'cause i was Born In Chicago but still like a butt-shaking tune now and then! But damn Renaissance Affair all to heck, i got an earworm now and am gonna keep playing it. —Hans Langer |
