Unless he has terrible representation, when he added new markets like Seattle at the last minute, there were probably escalating bumps in his salary. Howard was making around $25M a year when he was on FM. Howard's 5 year/$500M contract is misleading, that's not all for him, that's for his whole show/channel/production. That means, everybody on the show gets paid from that $100M/year. Robin's, Artie's, Fred's, Gary's, JD's, Sal's, Richard's, etc etc's salary comes from that $100M/year. The whole news team, their salaries, all of their equipment, all of their supplies, all of their phones, all of their mustard colored Howard 100 News jackets, that is from the $100M/year. Plus, there are production costs, all that new equipment like the new studio, all the cameras for the In Demand, all the microphones, all the backroom staff, all the assistants, all the bikini's, the tickle chair, everything else is paid for by that $100M/year. With that said, I think Howard is getting paid in the neighborhood of $35M-$40M a year, there is a chance he had to take a paycut, but at least he now owns all of his intellectual property, unlike before. Where Howard could make the real money is his Sirius stock, it's hovering around $5 right now, if Sirius can close the gap or start getting in the black before XM, that stock will start rising. He was recently awarded more stock because they hit 3 million subscribers at the end of 2005, so he earned a virtual $100M bonus last month. —greymatters |

Monday, February 6, 2006 at 1:51 PM A & D on Loveline were making around 750K a few years ago. It was around the 1 million mark when Ace left. Local jocks on highly rated morning shows make in the 1-1.5 million range (this is in Portland which is market number 30-something?) Adam in 15-cities, a lot of them major west coast cities, is probably at least making what greamatters quoted. I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't more like 10-12 million with his TV background and his production company producing the show. Adam has the same agent as John Stewart for what that's worth. —bguirk |
