First I checked out the series FOX cancelled. I heard a lot of buzz about how good it was so I downloaded an episode and was very impressed by the show. Likable characters, intelligent writing and dialogue and great stories.

I watched the movie that came out this week and again was blown away by how good it was.

I'm so impressed by Josh Whedon the writer/director that I'm gonna check out his other two succesful series on tv, "Angel" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer".

Yeah, it's awesome. If you haven't seen the whole series, I HIGHLY recommend getting all of it, it's well worth it. You'll be hooked. The movie rocked. People need to go see it, so we can have another one.

Firefly opened to $10M, it needs to have incredible legs to make enough money for another movie. I don't think it's going to happen.

If you've never seen Buffy or Angel, you should.

I think the title may be a turn-off for the people who don't know anything about it. Firefly would have worked much better, I think.

I think it was a mistake calling it Serenity, it sounds like a John Tesh concert PPV. I've decided to call it Firefly, it sounds less gay.

I loved Buffy and Angel...I haven't seen Serenity yet for lack of funds, but when I do I'm sure I'll love it.
Does it matter that I never saw Firefly?

The movie is trash. The work of Joss Whedon appeals to damaged people with delusions of grandeur.

"proof": Likable characters, intelligent writing and dialogue and great stories.
The actors are always terrible, the dialogue is typical soap opera dross (watered down Shakespeare) and the stories are just generic westerns in space, with silicon(e) special effects lacing everything. Just awful.
In the spirit of realness, none of the above facts make the movie bad. Those things ruin it for me, but if that's your thing then go get off on it then. You goose.

You don't have to have seen the tv episodes to enjoy this movie. It can stand on it's own.

Hopefully, even if it won't be a blockbuster at the movies, word-of-mouth buzz and dvd sales would get it through a few more sequels (remember The Matrix?). I just can't see anyone who enjoys a good comedy/adventure/scifi movie not like this one. Check out it's reviews at therottentomatoes.com, you will be impressed.

The Matrix made $27M in its first weekend and made $171M in North America not to mention the $460M it made worldwide. So yes, I know of The Matrix, Serenity ain't making that.

Had To Get It On

I didn't really care for this film. I'm not a sci-fi or fantasy fan. I hadn't even heard of the show Firefly before this movie came out. But I saw it anyway based on positive buzz. It seemed like they tried to make a feature film with the budget of a single mini-series episode. I thought the acting was uninspired, the humor was stale and the plot was too familiar. I'm guessing a lot people aren't even giving it a chance. I can't help but wonder if more people like me saw it what its reputation would be. After all, if it's that good, it should transcend it's genre and be widely accepted.
That being said, my sci-fi friends like the movie. If you're into this sort of thing it will probably be a good time for you.

Did the Matrix get good reviews? Cuz it was trash.
It's funny, so many people were disappointed by the sequels.
If only they had seen the original for what it was, then they wouldn't have been. The sequels were the same thing.
But they didn't give us the answers to existence! It's just like the X-Files finale! Really? No shit, sci-fi geek movie makers don't know the meaning of life. Knock my cock off with a brick, that's amazing.
Hugo Weaving and Larry Fishburne are fucking hot. Hugo had to play the Matrix, and he succeeded. The movie still sucked though.
I would like, just once, for something to come out and be hugely successful/accessible, and not be total garbabe. To be able to enjoy something and with other people. Now either I am rare like nothing in the whole world with taste or just on the tip of refusing to conform even a bit, through mental illness and pride. Which is it, cuz both possibilities are fucking awful.
Why did I write all of that?
