Ok, so i'm in my final year in High School (which starts in two days!!!), and since i consider you guys higly intellectual, i'm asking for your help. I have this Journal due, and i don't know what to write. This is the instructions....

Literary Analysis Journal on TESS OF THE D'URBERVILLES:
Please type, double-space, 12pt. font, a 4-5 page journal for each of the novels. The two journals should respond to the following questions:

1. Protagonist: name and list three "distinctive" characteristics. Substantiate each characteristic with a quote. (These may be a combination of positive and negative traits.)
2. What are some significant changes the main character undergoes? Discuss the causes of those significant changes.
3. Antagonists: name and list three "distinctive" characteristics followed by three quotes to support your claims.
4. Name one or more important character. Discusshow he/she influences the main character. Why is he/she important to the book? Support with one quotation.
5. What is the setting's importance to the story? Consider time period, place, and mood.
6. Describe the culture or society portrayed. Does the main characterfit into the society or he/she alienated in some way? Explain.
7. Briefly describe the opening scene. How is it important to the story?
8. Briefly describe the closing scene. Explain its importance/significance.
9. Plot paradigm: Identify the incident and climax/turning point; support each with quotes from the text (one each).
10. Theme: What is one of the messages the author is conveying through his or her work? IF one of the topics is love, what is the author saying about love? How do you know? Please avoid cliche expressions. Would you describe the author as being pessimist or optimistic? Why?
11. React, Relate and/or Reflect: What are some of your reactions to the book? Did you see any connections between it and other books/movies/people/personal experiences/events in the news, etc? What thoughts did the reading inspire? Did you have any questions you'd like to discuss in class?

-If any of you guys can answer these questions, I WOULD BE EXTREMELY APPRECIATED! THANK YOU

These are one of the many reasons I got a low B average in High School.

I was out drinking instead of doing homework.

Adam doesn't always know what he's talking about. How he said can't the Pats just lose a game? Well, they have. A couple in fact. Exhibition (Yes I'm aware they mean jackshit) games against New Orleans (of all teams) 27 to 37 I think, and also to the New York Giants, 27-3. I know that one for sure. Yeah, It doesn't count, but I mean, technically they did lose. Twice out of three games. If the Raiders beat the Patriots, I will...do something radical. Perhaps eat a banana without peeling it first. Love them Raiders. My friend has season tickets too, hell yeah, and I;m going with him to a few. Anyway....

Sweet fucking christ you "kids" piss me off. When I was in high school we walked uphill both ways and there was no world wide web--we geeks connected to bulletin boards with one phone line and 1200 baud modems and we liked it! If you wanted to do your literary journal without reading the book you either called your friend and did it over the phone or trudged over to the bookstore and bought the cliff notes. It took me about 8 seconds to find the answers to your questions with google. Sparks notes? Discussion pages? Sample chapters with discussion. Could it be any easier?

Back in my day, when we were asked to read a book for school, we didnt have any internet, we had to actually go out and rent the movie.

My God, I read Tess of the D'Urbervilles... in 1981, freshman year... seven years before you were born, if I do my math right.

There was a girl. I think she was British. She wore dresses. I seem to recall she was in love with somebody, but I don't think it worked out well, at least at first. She probably rode a horse at some point. I imagine she had long hair and was kind of pretty.

Feel free to turn that in.

What have you done for me lately for me to help you with your homework? Plus does this look like a homework help forum, don't get mad at people that don't help you because they don't owe you anything. Those questions are mostly plot based, and I’m guessing that reading the book and or using cliff notes would have worked. I'm also guessing that this was some type of summer reading and that you probably had a long time to read the book. Do your own work and stop calling people who don't do your work for you assholes.
