Monday, August 8, 2005 at 7:16 PM Wait a second, something just happened that I didnt expect. I turn on Loveline, theres no Adam. Just Drew and some co-host (Ralph Garman)who sounds remarkably like the dog from "the Family Guy". I found myself enjoying the show, not for anything Ralph Garman said who kind of just got in the way, of DREW. Now I remeber why I ever started listening to the show in the first place. Drew, when he gets the chance, turns the show into what it was designed for in the first place. A medical advice call in show. Drew reveals interesting things that alot of us want to know. I love Adam and hope he doesnt leave because his insights and humour are even better than the medical aspect of the show. But I'm surprised that adam doesnt mind just crapping all over Drews great service, by launching into rants about famous people and hollywood culture. If Adam does leave I'll still listen to Loveline. —AbsolutCarib |

Monday, August 8, 2005 at 11:23 PM Edited Monday, August 8, 2005 at 11:24 PM I really haven't been able to listen to it for more than a few minutes without Adam. But I will listen when Jimmy is the guest. I've been a fan of JK since seeing him on "Win Ben Stein's Money." Here's the situation. I'm 42 years old and I pretty much know the answers to the callers questions either from life experience or from having listened to the show for over a year. How many times do we need to hear that most young women don't have orgasms. The advice is almost always to go to a doctor to get checked out or get therapy. It's all pretty much textbook and clinical. I really was drawn to the show due to Adam's wit and brilliant analogies and insights. Plus, he has great stories of his pre-Jimmy life. For me, the show has mostly been about entertainment rather than a search for guidance. Without Adam's presence, the show holds little or no interest for me. —pookie |

Tuesday, August 9, 2005 at 12:07 AM I bet he is funny when speaking to a group, without Adam, about stuff he knows about. Sometimes on Loveline, when Adam is on a roll, Drew shuts up and lets Adam go, even though I know he is seething because no calls are being taken. But other times he tries to keep up with Adam and interrupts him and tries to finish the joke for him, which is rude and in poor taste anyway, but then Drew almost always screws it up and gives the punchline in a slightly (or completely) messed up way, too soon or whatever. Usually Adam yells at him, but lots of times he doesn't. Drew just needs to know his place, "an addiction medicine specialist," not a comedian. —TonyInPortland |

Last couple'a nights there's been no Adam and i gotta 'fess up, after listening for a few minutes i just let it go, man, just let it go. Smite them lord, smite them ... no matter that Dr. Drew's been unusually perky of late. See, I don't have any strange fungus growing on my balls and my gf has never, ever been abused, not even (gasp!) by weird old Uncle Fester. Neither of us have smoked pot in the last month so (according to Dr. Drew) we're not addicts yet. It don't burn when i pee, and neither of us are gonna get pierced in some ungodly place and then call in to say, "Uhh, man, i just got this railroad spike set in my joint and my gf got one in her virginia, uhh, man, now it itches us both real bad, did we do something stoopid here?". I wish Dr. Drew lottsa luck, but still ... I ask again, what's Loveline without Adam? Who's gonna rant? What're we gonna do, wait for the light to change before making that turn? Worry about airplane turbulence? Sit on our helmets? B0b help us, are we gonna buy cranberry sauce in the CAN come Thanksgiving??? Never mind, we'll get over it, right? Ha, not likely, because like HS says the shows are just effing boring without Adam there to keep things moving. So tonite the speakers are cranked and i'm listening to Poem to a Horse over & over while writing this, just to keep my mind right. http://s39.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0A0JZSHDLFSBC0GEZNZ3R8MAVO Share and enjoy, there's no Loveline without Adam ...

Mostly true, mandemoo, mostly true. But don't you agree Dr. Drew puts out some howlers once in a while? And he needs an "Adam" to grab his ankles and pull him back down to earth every now and then? I get a whiff of "Reefer Madness" sometimes listening to Dr. Drew, and not just when it comes to drug use. Sure, he's bean to university and all that, and he worries about the kidZ (like we all do, for good reason), but now with Adam gone he's IMO gotta loosen up a bit, don't you think? Once i heard him rant about all the poor people who look rather, errr, *hefty* to him. So he implies (and wants us to infer) they're overstuffed, well-fed, probably just too lazy to work, and we're supposed to chortle along with him; well, some of us who've also bean to university know that those people're really *malnourished*, sick and overweight, not well-fed and healthy. He shouldn't've said that. He's still gotta fess up to that one, and you can tell him for me that i'm pissed about it. Uhhh, and if you smoked pot last month, does that really mean you're an addict? Dr. Drew needs an "Adam". But mandeemoo, i like Drew too and wish him the best. —Hans Langer |

We need more people like you leading the way in the ignorance parade. I like Drew, I like Adam. I think that neither of them are as successful apart as they are together. But I find it funny that people rag on Drew for the same reason they celebrate Adam - namely their propensity to repeat themselves and the tendency to offer their opinions as fact. But a statement such as - plus he keeps repeating everything, and acting like he hasnt said it 5000 times before - could easily be applied to either. Adam rants about the same things repeatedly, just as Drew covers the same topics ad nauseum. —Beat It! |

Friday, August 12, 2005 at 8:01 PM Edited Friday, August 12, 2005 at 8:01 PM Chix0r is right in an oriental sort of way. Arrested Development is better than Fag-n-Grace, but more people watch Fag-n-Grace. So Fag-n-Grace is better from a marketing standpoint. More commercial, easier to whore. Anybody with two brain cells to rub together and then kill with Gin would rather watch A.D., but it's less popular, less whore-able, and thus worse from a marketing standpoint. Monday, August 15, 2005 at 8:22 AM A.D. also has a lot of character and ongoing plot based humor--it's not some archetypal sit-com. I whole heartedly disagree with Chix0r and would ask her to look at her choice in music--are the bands you love somehow worse even though they are not as popular as Hootie and the Blowfish were 5 years ago? I would argue that Hootie's golf-rock is in no-way better than anyone (other than Burger King commercials) yet tons of people loved it. Mass-appeal/ratings success are as much a combo of luck, timing, and voodoo as they are quality. How many crap sitcoms succeeded for 4-5 years just because they had the fortune of appearing in the slot right after Friends or Seinfeld?
