Tuesday, August 2, 2005 at 5:26 PM well they're on warner now and getting a pretty big push, so i think you might hear them on the radio soon. their new video is on mtv2 pretty often. they definitely have a great stage presence and super flashy image that kids love. personally i dont care for their music but i think they're great at self-promotion. when i said they were loudmouths, what i mean is they're super obnoxious and don't really give a fuck so they just say whatever comes to mind. this is entertaining to me, i know some people disagree. i read this great interview with them where the singer was talking about how he hates talking to kids, doesn't give a fuck about credibility, said they play to tapes live, and all this other stuff that was really funny. it was a great departure from the typical asshole in a band that's just super serious about everything and thinks he's the next shakespeare or something. —GooseAss |

Wednesday, August 3, 2005 at 6:51 AM Edited Wednesday, August 3, 2005 at 6:52 AM yeah that's the best way to do it... if you can think of a concept of what you want, go around to different shops in town and look at portfolios until you find someone that really grabs you. then tell them what you want, and ask how much it will cost for them to draw it up for you (some people charge a few hundred, some nothing but require a deposit, etc). you'll come back in like a week and check it out, ask them to change something, come back again, etc. you can always bring in something from another source (like a drawing in a magazine or something), but i think it's cooler to get something original, that way you won't run into someone else with the same tattoo. one thing i'd say is, don't be afraid to spend a lot of money. good tattoos aren't cheap and if you get a bad one, you'll regret it your whole life. go to the best place in town even if they're twice as expensive as everyone else. tell them what your budget is and see how you can work within it, but definitely tell them you think they're the best and want to work with them (flattery will get you everywhere). hope that helps! —GooseAss |

Sunday, September 4, 2005 at 10:46 AM Airsoft is a war game, similar to paintball. Typically, Airsoft guns are replicas of real firearms (they are distinguishable from real firearms because they have an orange band around the muzzle-end). Airsoft guns shoot 6mm plastic BBs at a relatively low velocity, normally between 185 and 350 feet/second. Airsoft replica of a Glock G18:

We never hunted; we just shot at paper targets. My mom and I alway did better at it than my dad and older brother which really made them mad. That was mostly when I was between the ages of 8 - 11. Now that I look back, it's kinda scary that they let an 8 year old load and handle a gun, but those were different times. Back then, we had toys that could kill or maim. Monday, September 5, 2005 at 12:47 AM All those simulations of gun amusement are stupid. Either get a real gun and go shoot it or abstain. People who try to hold the middle ground are worse than the extremists who live and die by their firearm opinions. If anyone is apprehensive about joining the firearm community, just remember to try them all. Handguns may not be your thing so try shotguns. If shotguns don't do it for you, go for the hunting rifle, or maybe a nice small caliber gas operated plinking rifle. Make sure you cover all the bases before you abandon guns as a hobby. Remember, some day you may be glad you taught yourself how to shoot. Never know what the ol' future has in store. Also, vote Republican. We may not be right about stem cells or abortion, but goddamnit, we have our heads on straight when it comes to guns. And tobacco. We like to drink also. Vote Republican. Seriously.

Monday, September 5, 2005 at 6:29 AM I dunno that the simulation guns are that bad. Instead of being "watered down real guns," I think of it more as "souped up online games." You could sit in front of your computer and do this, or you could get up and run around a bit. Same experience, since you get to actually respawn and stuff. If you're into CTF and all that, why not do it in person? So yeah I don't consider it a substitute for real guns.. I don't really have an urge to use those. Airsoft (for me) = Substitute for video games and the like. —Chrispy |

Thursday, September 8, 2005 at 5:37 PM I think so. I think the cd is worth it just for the solos. They aren't so good with the slow songs though, their vocals sound like shit on those. Also, they are great with the guitar twin melodies, those sound great. The bottom line with the vocals is that, they are kinda high and screechy on Bat Country, but with some of the others, he is spot on, and it sounds more like the metal/punk band they are. Other highlights on the cd I would say are; Beast and the Harlot, Burn it Down, and Strength of the World (it has some weird orchestra thing). All the songs are pretty long, giving them a chance to bring out the perfect drumming, and genious guitar parts. The song "Betrayed" has a heavy Pantera influence it seems like, that is, you know, if Pantera had gone soft. This cd is different from A7X's last CD's. It's a lot softer, but in my opinion better. Plus, I'm pretty sure the singer blew a blood vessel in his throat or something, which is why they've pretty much switched from Metal or Death metal to the Nu-Metal genre. Nu-metal is for fans that want hard rock, but aren't fans of the screaming. Maybe, that's why he sounds worse on this cd. The main problem with City of Evil, is that Bat Country is A7X's Magnum Opus, basically. When you set the standard that high, it's hard to please purchasers looking for a CD filled with songs just as good as Bat Country. But, still I love the CD. So, basically if you can tolerate his vocals, you'll probably love the cd. I'd say 9/10, but that's me, don't be dissapointed and come crying. —Stryker311 |
