Thursday, June 9, 2005 at 5:15 AM Edited Thursday, June 9, 2005 at 5:16 AM Just curious. Doesn't Kimmel tape from 9:00 to 10:00 Pacific time? I watched the Kimmel show on the East coast at midnight my time (which is 9:00 PM Pacific time). I noticed Adam hung out for the whole Kimmel show, so how could he have made it back to LL by 10:00 PM? I must have one of my facts wrong, but not sure which one.

Thursday, June 9, 2005 at 7:25 AM By the way, Adam talked about the same stuff as he talks about on LL, I wanted to hear about this new home improvement show, and diving over the couch after playing Adam Carolla by himself, the man is better for radio. —Darkfloyd |

Thursday, June 9, 2005 at 9:22 AM Edited Thursday, June 9, 2005 at 9:38 AM Agree with you Darkfloyd. I made plans to post the Kimmel appearance online... then cancelled those plans 'cuz his Kimmel appearance was so awkward. It almost looked like what would happen if I appeared on TV. Loved him on The Man Show, but I guess that was more suited for Adam than last night's venue. —GainRider |

Thursday, June 9, 2005 at 12:06 PM Edited Thursday, June 9, 2005 at 12:51 PM Adam tries too hard when he's on TV, and he makes jokes only Loveline listeners would appreciate. How did he think that the Adam Carolla - Marc Polo bit would translate well to TV? But his appearance on Kimmel was a comedy classic compared to his appearance on Last Call with Cason Daly. But, I think his TLC show will be good. A show about carpentry and construction is right in Adam's wheelhouse. I'm predicting an early demise for the Comedy Central show. That one is going to be ugly. —Margin Walker |

Thursday, June 9, 2005 at 12:15 PM Adam had a few good lines (i.e. Mr. Mango Pants), but I hate that Marco Polo bit on radio, so it sucked ass on the Tele. I thought his Last Call apperance was pretty funny actually, I mean one of the funniest things I've seen on it (When Chappelle was on, he stood behind the other guest and made thrusting motions. That was the funniest thing I've ever seen on that show.). —Hashmeer Shashmeer |

Thursday, June 9, 2005 at 12:36 PM I've never much liked televised Adam. It's always too painful. The guy is the funniest, quickest person in showbiz - he runs comedy circles around Kimmel - but I can't watch him. I always hope the best, but he's so awkward. Maybe the cameras unnerve him or something. I guess the good part is that means he will always need the radio gig to fall back on. —Beat It! |

Thursday, June 9, 2005 at 12:40 PM I love Adam, but once he sees the camera's red light go on, he chokes. It probably doesnt help that he has a face for radio, too. I love the guy, but he needs to stick to his strengths. —danimal21 |

Thursday, June 9, 2005 at 1:49 PM I think sometimes Adam thinks edgy=funny. When he tries to do that, it just comes off as stupid. I did giggle for a second when he jumped behind the couch. I like him and all, but I really don't think his show will last. —mandeemoo22 |

Thursday, June 9, 2005 at 2:58 PM I have seen Adam come off as a bit stiff when having to deliver rehearsed lines, but he was actually quite good in "Windy City Heat." Did anyone else see that? I think it's quite possibly one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. —pookie |

Thursday, June 9, 2005 at 3:03 PM Edited Thursday, June 9, 2005 at 3:05 PM Adam is just a little too schticky on TV for my tastes. He should be more real. Also, you wouldn't happen to have it on tape would you, Pookie? We've all been desperately trying to find one, since it's never been released as a DVD. —Hashmeer Shashmeer |

Thursday, June 9, 2005 at 4:10 PM Good thing we never have this conversation. (By the way Marge, I was being sarcastic) As I have said before, the current king of late night, Conan O' Brian was HORRIBLE for the first few years. Hopefully CC gives Adam enough time (and hopefully it happens) to become comfortable and develop an on air demeanor that showcases his talent. Just have to wait and see. —Ovid |

Thursday, June 9, 2005 at 5:40 PM Conan's situation was different because he was completely unknown, so people had to warm up to him. However, Adam is well known to most of the Comedy Central audience, so if the way that he presents himself on his show is the same way that we've previously seen him on TV, then he probably won't be given many more chances. —mandeemoo22 |

Thursday, June 9, 2005 at 7:37 PM onan's situation was different because he was completely unknown, so people had to warm up to him. Different for an initial viewer ship, but no different to a exec when rating were terrible yet they knew the funny guy from backstage. If you believe that there was an audience that drone-like tuned in for 4 years despite not liking him just to see if he would "warm-up" then you are daft my friend. If anything, Adam has the advantage in a loyal following that will give him a little leanency whereas Conan did not. —Ovid |

Drew, Please |

Thursday, June 9, 2005 at 11:07 PM I agree that Adam's TV persona seems a bit contrived. His genius on radio comes partially from his sincerity. He sounds relaxed, comfortable, and in his element whereas on TV it appears like he's trying too hard to collect some laughs. I still find him hilarious, but most of his jokes seem to be derived from other bits that he does. Unless you're familiar with these, his comedy misses the mark. —Drew, Please |
