Sunday, June 5, 2005 at 6:59 PM From E! Online: BACK IN REHAB: Us Weekly reporting Kelly Osbourne has checked into a Pasadena, California-based drug treatment center. The 20-year-old previously spent time in rehab last year for an addiction to prescription painkillers. Osbourne's rep told Us the singer will be back in action "in a few weeks." I am so completely shocked by this. Jaw on the floor! —mikeyfish |

Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at 10:40 AM Edited Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at 10:41 AM I don't think I've heard that episode. What did he ask her? I know that there is no excuse for not knowing the allied/axis powers in WWII, but I think Adam was streatching it when he bitched about people not knowing any WWII AIRCRAFT. Seriously, before that show, how many people could name one or more WWII aircraft? I took AP U.S. History and they didn't cover aircraft. You know why? Aircraft don't matter much in terms of the significance of the war. Aircraft of WWII is too esoteric a topic for what Adam was trying to prove. —foob2011 |

Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at 10:56 AM Kelly was offended that Adam would say women wouldn't know about World War II, and said she knew all about it from school and from her father. So Adam decided to quiz her. Adam asked Kelly who the Axis and Allied powers were. First, she said "Ask me a real question!" and said you'd really have to study to know that. After Drew said the Axis powers were "Germany and..." she said "And England?" After Adam mocked this, she dropped the F bomb. —mikeyfish |

It doesn't seem very important. —mandeemoo22 |

Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at 9:15 PM Your post is confusing, Ovid, but if you are telling me that Kelly wasn't a guest on 2003-10-14 then please re-check your dates, she was. You're right, that was very confusing. What I am saying is that there are two episodes, one with guest Kelly Osbourne, one with Macho Man Randy Savage. The Kelly Osbourne episode is labeled 10-14 and the Randy Savage episode is labeled 10-13. The problem is that the Kelly Osbourne episode containing the WWII stuff is referenced in the Randy Savage episode which supposedly took place the day before. Therefore, one and probably both have the wrong date. I may be mistaken as I (often am) remember noticing this error a week or two ago. Give me a few days and I will relisten to them to make sure. —Ovid |

Wednesday, June 8, 2005 at 12:05 PM foob2011 You are dead on right. You can learn about the planes by leafing through a picture book or watching any one of many crappy movies about the war. However, it might be one of the first things that you learn about, or at least read - you know, somewhere after you find out which guys were the good and the bad guys. Failing that - at least knowing the participants, because if 'new' history has taught us nothing, the difference between the Americans and the Nazis - almost non existent. The American military was nothing more that a wave of war crimes rolling Eastward across Europe, and Westward across the Pacific. To know *nothing* about WW2 is frankly mind boggling - especially to someone out of high school. What in the hell is being taught in Social Studies (or what ever) these days? I did it in as part of Grade 10, equal parts of Canadian Government, 1900-modern Canadian history, and then one third something else I just can not remember. Adam might be all het up about bombing Germany again, just because...I can only think that is because he falls into the common Western view that the Germans should be held to account (because they are 'like us') and yet Japan has never been called to account for the atrocities that they did, not only to China and Korea, but a whole load of Colonial troops - certainly never to the extent that Germany did. —Laxdude |

Thursday, June 9, 2005 at 8:15 AM gimme your shoes you do realize I was joking, right? While the modern view is not one that I hold, it is growing in the 'inteligencia' type liberal crowds. Just look at how national museums have tried to portray WW2, from the Enola Gay exhibit, to the Canadian Was Museum. We have already had someone post on the other thread about how wrong the American liberators were for removing partisan leaders. Some things are absolute, especially on the macro view. The Allies were the good guys. The nuking of Japan was the best option. But I am one of those freaks that actually knows something about World War Two, not just written history but also personal accounts. So lets do some Double Jeopardy WW2 questions. Without researching... What was the name of the plane that dropped the second atomic bomb on Japan?

Thursday, June 9, 2005 at 10:47 AM Right on both accounts. While most people do not know, or think it is the Enola Gay...they say Boxcar - which is how it sounds. From what I recall either named by the regular Captain, Bock, hence Bock's Car. However he was not the pilot (Sweeney) that dropped Fat Man (the more technical of the bombs) on Nagasaki, the secondary target. Due to geography the explosion at Nagasaki was contained. The drop itself almost did not happen. The plane was at a critical fuel point and had a 15 to 20 second break in the clouds not happened the drop would not have happened. Nagasaki was the location of a Mitsubishi torpedo factory and also happened to have the largest Christian population in Japan. —Laxdude |

Friday, June 10, 2005 at 9:59 AM Sharon Osbourne: Kelly 'Lost It' Sharon Osbourne is so upset about daughter Kelly's latest stint in rehab that she broke into sobs while discussing it ... with the National Enquirer. In her "exclusive" tête-à-tête with the tabloid, Mrs. Ozzy insists Kelly hasn't reverted to her former bad habits. Instead, the curvaceous cutie is suffering from body-image issues. "Kelly had a breakdown because of her weight," Sharon says. "This is not, I repeat, not about drugs. I wish it were that simple, but it's not. Kelly had a complete mental meltdown." Sharon says her daughter "lost it and became hysterical" after a recent interview with a British TV show, when she was asked whether her slimline look in publicity shots is the result of some creative image doctoring. "That was the straw that broke the camel's back," explains Sharon, who has also seen Ozzy and son Jack through trips to rehab. "We were all really frightened. We didn't know what she might do! So, we decided that Kelly needed treatment." Ozzy's little girl, 20, is reportedly under the care of radio talk-show host Dr. Drew Pinsky. Sharon's interview with the Enquirer is punctuated by waterworks, which she says are due to this being "a very painful and difficult time for all of us, especially Kelly." She reveals, "They've always made fun of the way she looked. But this time around it seemed worse than usual to her and she could no longer cope with that." Sharon may be a concerned mother, but she's also a businesswoman, so in between the tears she manages to slip in a plug for her offspring's latest project. "Kelly was just starting to promote her second CD, 'Sleeping in the Nothing,' but the only thing everyone wanted to talk about was her weight," Sharon says, adding, "Fortunately, she is doing much better now." Meanwhile, Sharon is firing back at critics who are questioning her decision to put Jada Pinkett Smith's band Wicked Wisdom on the hard-rocking Ozzfest bill. "I wasn't sure what to expect when I went to see Wicked Wisdom play last April in a tiny [Los Angeles] club at midnight," she tells Billboard. "But let me tell you, I was blown away. When you see and hear Jada with her band it's apparent that she has nothing but love and respect for this genre of music. I totally respect that the band wants to pay their dues playing the second stage on Ozzfest." —pookie |
