Sunday, March 6, 2005 at 11:19 AM Or better yet, call Dr. Drew. According to the few minutes of research I spent on Google, while Depakote can cause fatal liver and/or pancreas problems, it isn't necessarily addictive. Most addictive medications seem to fall under the category of painkillers or sleeping pills, but that's just anecdotal. Of course, an addict can get addicted to anything, so, since this medication has harmful side effects, I imagine it ought to be used with care. I have never heard Dr. Drew refer to this drug as addictive. In all his dealings on-air with bipolars and epileptics, I don't recall him cautioning them against taking Depakote for their symptoms. But all medication is experimental, and I seriously would recommend calling Dr. Drew if you can manage it, or talking to another doctor that you trust. —TortillaFactory |
