When Adam talked about how awful it must be for a daughter to hear the floor boards creaking as daddy comes down to hall to her bedroom and Drew cracked back "imagine how it must be for YOUR wife" I laughed HARD and LONG just imagining the abashed look on Adam's face...now THAT's good radio!

Dime for scale.

It was dime for scale.

It was Drew's greatest night; he deserves full credit for the brilliance of it.

Drew's other classic comedy moments includes his "falling on a sword" if one of his kids went to junior college and correcting Adam when he said a caller had "rolled the anal dice and came up snake eyes." Drew said, "No, no... craps."

It's very telling that Drew's greatest night happened when he wasn't in studio. They really need to get cameras in the loveline studio. They don't have to play to them like Stern does, but I'd love to see all of the "bad radio" that Drew does.

I am pretty sure that whole "Adam and Drew are going to jam with us" bit was a joke - where Adam and Drew didn't really play the instruments, but they told the audience they did. I think we would have heard more about their musical abilities somewhere along the line if they did actually play bass and guitar.

Drew works really well with Adam and without him, the show's just not the same at all. There was one doctor who I actually thought was kind of nice and I didn't mind having him there and worked well with Adam. It wasn't Bruce or Altar, but someone else. I think his name might have started with a B.

I really thought that Drew and Adam did play their instruments. I'm going to stand by my belief that they did.

I DO recall Adam playing SAX with John Popper. I believe it to be authentic, because it was JUST bad enough (though not horrible) to be coming from an out-of-practice or limited-experience musician.

Dusty, you need to dust off your John Popper show and take another listen - there was no sax in their "jam" - and I am 99% positive it wasn't them playing.

'Scuse the hell outta ME!! I only heard it the one time when it was ON! (I think it was like 1998, or thereabouts.)

Sorry, I think that came off being more hostile sounding than I intended - the first part was a bad joke, the second part was a clarification.. anyway, there is a recording floating around with the date 10-20-1999 (which I believe is correct), if you want to listen again.

I'll take your word for it, dude. You have more access to this stuff than I do. (But I could have SWORN!)

I very clearly remember listening to it when I was in middle school, so it must have been 1998. There was definately no sax. But I really thought it was real...

I listened to the broadcast when it first aired and they did not play any instruments. Adam has said at many times that he wished he played an instrument.

I play sax and you can buy CD's of a rhythm section (bass, piano, drums) to back you so you can practice playing with a band when you don't have a band to play with. I also have one with an organ player, guitarist, and drummer. John Popper brought one of these CD's in and played along with it. Adam and Drew were just making "good radio." If I wasn't lazy I could find the exact CD Popper brought in and link you to it. Instead I'll link you to the jazz ones:
