Received this one today in my e-mail box:

Full address blocked to protect the ?innocent?. Another person on the list of users who hate me. This one seems unprovoked. I'd love to see what I did to them.

Shouldn't a hyphen (-) be used instead of a semicolon?

Yes. He used the semicolon improperly.

Those rules don't state my point, but they don't refute it, either. In all of those examples, what comes before the semicolon is a complete sentence, and so is what comes after. "both of them" is not a complete sentence, therefore, it cannot correctly be seperated from anything by a semicolon.

That's crazy shit. If you're so upset, why go through the effort of sending an e-mail with no point? What a fuckin' weirdo. I'm feeling better about flaming 'gendou' a little last night.

The Drew Carey Show graciously provided us with an appropriate adjective. It is "pathetisad."

...and it's "Check out the BIG brain on chix0r."

LOL! That was a funny email. Whoever said that the semicolon usage was incorrect is right. I always was under the impression that a semicolon separates two complete sentences; in other words, the sentences should have both a subject and a predicate.
