Friday, January 7, 2005 at 3:18 PM Edited Friday, January 7, 2005 at 3:19 PM "Jodie Foster's Army" was named in response to the dude who shot the president and cited his reason as "I was trying to impress Jodie Foster." Hence, when gouranga made the comment about shooting people from a bell tower, Dubious Merit said, "It'd sure impress the hell out of Jodie Foster.", which lead Liz to say, "I wonder how many people get that reference.", which lead me to say, "I do -- and so does the band JFA." See? Edited to add: Now break it down now! —steve |

Saturday, January 8, 2005 at 1:16 AM John Hinkley got the idea to impress Jodie Foster, however, from the Robert De Niro movie "Taxi Driver," where his taxi driver character gradually becomes more and more isolated from society and becomes psychotic and tries to assassinate someone. Jodie Foster played a teenage hooker in the movie. It's also the flick that had the famous line "you talkin' to me?" in it. Not bad for someone who's never even seen it. —Ganthet |

An important question, but easily answered: no. The responsibility of actions falls in the hands of those who act, not those who might have inspired such things. —clodhopper |
