Sunday, December 5, 2004 at 8:31 PM 1) Can't say I know of any place that posts JKL daily, but you might find a torrent somewhere. 2) There is no built in search feature, but you can use google to search the contents of this domain which in effect, searches the forum. —Kevin U. |

Sunday, December 5, 2004 at 8:56 PM Yeah, but google's not going to get recent stuff. I remember when I first started coming here, I searched the forum that way to see if anyone had already posted the GoF theme song lyrics. Upon not finding that that was the case, I posted them, only to be told that they had already been posted several times. —Dark Laith |

Sunday, December 5, 2004 at 11:36 PM I have a DVD recorder and have been toying with the idea of archiving JKL the same way we do with Loveline -- The only problem is, I don't know how to transfer the show from DVD into some kinda downloadable format like an MPEG. If there's an easy way to do it, I may try sharing the shows at the Hub or at the NJC sites (if they're interested). Anybody know the easiest way to to convert these? —steve |

Sunday, December 5, 2004 at 11:44 PM For a bit more than a year I recorded JKL every night with my TV capture card software into wmv format. It became obvious to me that I will most likely never watch one of the recordings again (like I do with Loveline), and that it was taking a lot of harddrive space, and that wmv is a not-so-great format - so I quit. I have since switched off of the annoying capture card software and I now use Virtual Dub to capture and edit TV, but it is definately more time consuming than audio archiving so I do it on a limited basis (such as Adam guesting on JKL). If you were going to start recording and distributing the show though, I would suggest using a popular video codec like divx or xvid - I am not sure how easy it would be to use a stand-alone DVD recorder to record it every night and then transfer it to the computer, but you could try it out - the best setup is definately a TV capture card in the computer. —Kevin U. |

Sunday, December 5, 2004 at 11:58 PM Hmm... I was thinking of recording for a week or two at a time (or however long it takes to fill up a DVD) and then converting the shows... I'm afraid I might just be too lazy for this. I feel the same way you do -- I don't think I'll go back and watch the shows the way I listen to old episodes of Loveline -- But still, it would totally appease my OCD to have a nice orderly archive of JKL. —steve |

Monday, December 6, 2004 at 8:58 PM gouranga: Again, it's different for everybody. My symptoms often change. Originally it was hand-washing (every thirty minutes, by the clock, or my hands actually felt dirty and I'd start to go nuts), but I've gotten better with that now. Often it's just little, random phobias, neuroses, and quirks that interfere with the normal course of life. ie, needing to arrange food into certain groups and/or have equal amounts of everything, only being able to write with a particular pen on a certain day, etc...I could keep a journal about it. I should. But I'm too lazy. —TortillaFactory |

Monday, December 6, 2004 at 10:34 PM "only being able to write with a particular pen on a certain day, etc..." I have certain shirts that I won't wear on certain days -- some clothes are Tuesday/Thursday type clothes -- others are Monday/Wednesday/Friday type clothes. Apparently I have no OCD on the weekends. I've gotten better though -- I've started to force myself to do things against my will, I.E.: wear stuff whenever. —steve |

Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at 12:57 AM Edited Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at 12:58 AM I have actually NAMED most of my shirts, but I think that's less due to OCD, and MORE due to just plain dorkiness. I wish *I* didn't have to have OCD on weekends. I NEVER get a day off from it. Or did you just mean that you don't care what you WEAR on weekends? Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at 1:31 AM Edited Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at 1:32 AM By the way, this all came about after wanting to show some friends a couple of JKL clips; namely 1) Comedian Frank Caliendo impersonating John Madden in front of Al Michaels + Frank Gifford 2) Recent bit showing backstage footage of R. Kelly getting pepper sprayed by Jay-Z, followed by a string of other muscial acts pepper spraying each other (with letters in their names: ex/ Sheila E, Kenny G, etc - LOL). Both of these happened w/in the past couple of weeks. So more directly, if anyone has those shows/clips, that would be...well, "noyce!" :) —Noyce |

No, I still have to use my TV capture card, but I ditched the software that it came with because it was limiting. > "Possible to receive e-mail notifications once replies are made?" Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at 5:34 PM It's frustrating that companies like ABC, KROQ, Infinity Broadcasting, etc. don't make show archiving (and making that archive available to the public) a bigger priority -- How can they not realize that people want these things? —steve |

Wednesday, December 8, 2004 at 12:03 PM steve, because they're stupid, plain and simple. They're so scared of copyright infringement that they're not going to put electronic copies out there (unless it's on a format that they control and can make a whole bunch of money off of like DVD). This will change though, just as practically every show is now available on DVD. Once someone starts making money off of electronic downloads on demand they'll all flock to do the same. As for the OCD thread, I used to wash my hands repeatedly. Now, I wash more than the average person (which isn't much... most people don't wash ever!) and avoid certain places. —sprewell |

Wednesday, December 8, 2004 at 5:44 PM Inner places, D.L. -- He's been to paradise, but he's never been to "me". (rimshot) By the way, that's a good point Sprewell -- I'm so sick of how everything's buried in legalities and greed nowadays. That's a perfect explanation of why the public doesn't have "free" access to an archive of a show that's broadcast for free. I assume free-archives available to the public in the form of a virtual library will never exist. —steve |
