Mexican National Anthem?

At the very end of the edited mp3's of the show, there is a clip of a woman saying "And now, the Mexican national anthem...". I was just wondering that that's all about. Surely the radio station isn't so desperate to fill airtime that they have to play a foreign national anthem.

I respectfully request that this topic stay on-topic and not veer into xenophobic rants.

I have no idea what it means, but that station is 91x in San Diego so Mexico recieves the station.

91x plays the Mexican National Anthem every night at midnight, it may have something to do with their broadcast tower being in Mexico.

Sunday nights on 91X they usually play a whole assortment of Mexican - or at least Spanish-language - shows presumably out of TJ. What I don't get is why they play the same crappy rendition of the Mexican national anthem every night. On Sundays they usually play a full orchestral version that actually sounds pretty decent.

They should hook up Ace's Acordian Countdown, I listen on 91X all the time!

It might be something the broadcasting officials in Mexico require. For example, in the States, states are required to give their station ID within four minutes of the top of the hour. So the anthem might be some similar requirement.

Yeah, that's just a 91x thing. On Sunday nights they play the anthem halfway through the show, and Monday-Thursday they play it right after the show. (meaning always at midnight) I always edit it out, but I think steve might let a few more seconds into the file before it stops.

To keep your broadcasting license in mexico you need to play the mexican national anthem at midnight every night.

Yep Puck -- That's true -- I had a problem where Total Recorder kept cutting off the last 30 - 40 seconds of the show (still not sure why that was happening), so to compensate, I allow the recording to run up to the intro to the Mexican National Anthem -- Plus, I just like the way the chick's voice sounds: "Que hora, Nemetouno Eckes presente..."

Never got the minute to formally thank BOTH OF YOU, puck and Steve for all your HARD WORK in keeping the mp3's alive and so nicely edited!! I live in an area where loveline is broadcast, yet, at the local clear channels stations' convenience... meaning.. it might be last nights show, the night before last, or just a repeat they have on cart, which I think they only have one.. the one with cheech. OMG I've heard it at least 12 dozen times - thus I've boycotted them altogether and have had nasty words with the intern that picks up the phone when they actually let loveline air and I ask where last nights show went, and she says "what do you mean? you already heard it? why do you want to hear it now? **cringes**... If there were any definition of a "C" she is it.

Thanks guys, alot of us rely on you for our "loveline fix" nightly.

I'm just one voice, sure I speak for plenty tho.

Cheers and keep it up!

Just like when the monky at MOJO kept spilling his beer on the board and all they had was the bloody Tori Amos show. Come back from a commercial...bang, Tori. Fade to static for 2 minutes...bang, Tori. No, these are not "gold dust moments".

I love the downloads and can not thank y'all enough for all the work you put in.

I forgot to kiss the rings of The Pillars of the Community Who Digitize and Propogate Loveline.

As Adam said the other evening to this community, "God bless you all" to which I add: "...especially you guys."

Everytime you think the Mexican National Anthem's about to end, it appears to go into about ten more minutes of horns.

Yeah, you'd think that even if the original anthem didn't have accordions in it, they would've worked them in at some point.
