How long until Adam leaves?

In the last couple weeks I've heard Adam give some big hints about leaving. Last night a kid wanted to be the next host and Adam said it might be sooner than you think.
Also a the guy called back 9 years later saying Adam told him originally that he would kill himself if he was still doing this crappy show in 10 years. Adam's reply was it's only been 9 and I will kill myself if it is 10.

I prefer to bury my head in the sand and not even think about Adam leaving the show... But I think it might be sooner 18 months

No matter how long it is, it will be a sad day. No one could ever replace Adam. He holds a part in all of our hearts. He is my hero, and I hope one day to be 1/60 the man he is.

why would adam want to leave the show? it's a regular gig that pays well, gets him lots of exposure, plays to his comedic strengths, lets him meet and make connections with other celebrities, and doesn't take all that much time (it's not as if he spends a great deal of time prepping for the show, at least according to what he says on the air)... doesn't really make sense for him to leave, unless he's just so totally burnt out on it that he can't stand it anymore.

does he have some other gig that he's going to? if not, then it really doesn't make sense to me - he even stayed while he was doing the man show, and it doesn't seem like he has as much going on now as he did then...

I remeber at some point that he and Drew were talking about how much they make doing Loveline - It might have been the show where Adam was reading his Social Security statement, but I'm not sure...

I think it averaged out to something like $2000.00 per show.

Serious duckets for not a great deal of work... Adam gets to rant all he wants, we all know he's a night owl anyway so the 10pm - midnight hours don't bother him, and I don't think he's kidding about the fact that he doesn't prepare at all.

Then again, Crank Yankers is doing well, Drawn Together is doing well, and who knows what's going to happen with Kimmel.

I think he will soon leave the show. I think he's just tired of talking to stupid teenagers and dealing with punk ass bands and uninteresting guests. He gets paid well if you compared it to you and me but 300,000 dollars year is not that great for a national radio show. He was joking around with drew that he should get paid more, he doesn't even clear a thousand each night. He could do better somewhere else or get a raise.

I believe Adam and Drew get around $300,000 a year for Loveline. Figuring 250 shows a year or so, that's $1,200 a show (or $600 an hour).

It wouldn't shock me if Adam left, but it would be the end of an era in radio and I don't think I could get used to listening to Loveline ever again. I really think if Adam goes, so does the show.

i still cant imagine adam leaving loveline unless he got a huge new gig, like a network talk show or a starring role in a sitcom. even then i wouldn't think that he would want to give up a steady gig that would be there for $ and exposure no matter how much his tv carrear rose or fell...

Well said. Loveline without Adam would be like crapping without toilet paper... Still possible, but something you really don't look forward to.

Uh, just the other week when Adam was talking about dropping out of the Late Late Show running, he was talking about his future with Loveline and he said he couldn't leave Drew to himself. :-\ But I don't know if he would mind having his own satellite radio show, courtesy of Howard Stern.

I think at some point they'll start doing what Johnny Carson did when he was getting too old to do his show -- have Jay Leno substitute for him increasingly more each week.

Except, like... Hopefully it won't be Jay Leno...

I'm sure when they time comes they'll pick me as Adam's replacement. I have ereet radio skillz.

I think there's 50/50 chance that Adam moves to Sirius Radio in '06. I wouldn't be surprised if Adam let Drew come along with him. Don't forget that Infinity Radio (who owns Loveline) is still in the picture of bailing out Sirius Radio by buying them.

Hello, fools...and Welcome to the Reality that Adam is gone come 2006, when he takes over for Stern when he makes the move to satellite! ... the "Radio" meetings in new york he has missed shows over... yeah, it's happening... loveline is gonna change, but adam is moving on.. and to that I say hell yeah and good luck ace! but Loveline will be loveline as long as drew is at the helm, please christ in heaven save us striker from being the co-host though.... on nights when there is no band to interview, omg boring... And we don' need DAG either... a little bit of him goes a long way.... I think a sound mind and quiet body could do well for his replacement, maybe Henry Rollins? He's an unknown, but has been on the show and is quite educated and could serve as a nice medium with drew? I dunno.. but facts are facts, and the fact that adam is goin in 2006 is true dat... we supported loveline this long, a change of host can not allow us to falter, this is our program, we supported it and listened to the endless ads for trojan, that god forsaken date line thing.... the least we can do is give it a healthy chance to succeed post Adam. Drew rocks, afterall!!!

Cheers!

Doesn't sound like a "fact", but rather a "guess" based on presumptions. Who knows what those meetings in New York were about, or what was decided? Until Adam makes an announcement or we get a more credible source, we really won't know. I am hoping that all these speculations are wrong because I really would like to see Adam remain on Loveline. However, if he does leave, I do hope it is to a project that the majority of us fans will have access to on a day-to-day basis.

Regarding possible replacements (if it should ever come to that), I think someone mentioned in another forum the idea of Chris Hardwick. I think that would be an awesome pick. He's witty and very sarcastic (perfect for the callers). I think some other good options would be: Patton Oswalt, Jim Norton, or Jim Florentine (Special Ed).

Adam is wasting his talents in Loveline. He should have his own show in sirius with Howard Stern with his 3 channels he's producing. Loveline sucks anyhow, with teenagers asking the same question everytime, Adam needs his own radio show with some crazy side kicks.

I know that Drew is smart and everything, but he aint funny, i'll tell you that. Adam could be the guy that will replace Stern in 2011 for God's sake. Long live Adam Carolla! Fuck Drew, he ain't funny, he just fucks in Adam's parade.

I'm drunk when U wrote this so sorry if I mispelled anything.

drew isn't supposed to be funny - he's supposed to be knowledgeable, which he is.

don't underestimate the value of having a 100% bona-fide real-life doctor on that show - it makes it much more interesting to listen to, because you can trust the information that you get.

Very true.

And by the way, Drew can be funny. It's just unpredictible and irregular, and not one of his stronger suits. Give him a little credit, at least.

We know for a fact that Adam met with Howard when he went to NYC the last time. That doesn't mean he met up with Howard for business but it probably was, I don't think they rented a hotel room and spooned.

How could you listen to Loveline and hate Drew? Drew is the rock of the show. Who would Adam bag on for knocking over the mike and ruining a punchline to a long-winded story? Some of the best moments on Loveline have been when Drew inadvertently makes Adam lose his composure and can't stop laughing at/with Drew.

I submit that Adam's motivation to do Loveline is less about money and more about him having fun. I think he explained sometime ago that the reason he stays with loveline is it is a medium where he can just have a normal coversation and be at his best(and funniest) as opposed to a scripted tv show or a daytime radio gig.

It'll be a sad day if Adam leaves and I don't think we're doing anyone any good by betting how long it is until Adam leaves. For everyone on this forum who loves Adam they really can't stop talking about how soon it is until he leaves. We should be creating threads to support Adam and things like that.

I love both Drew and Adam, but I really think that any other host wouldn't have the rapport that they have with each other. Those two guys are like best friends and that comes through on the air.

I don't know about you guys but I think Adam is as funny when he's at Stern, that when he's at Loveline. If Drew left the show it would be a 10% hit for the show, if Adam left the show it would be a 90% hit for the show. Just admit it you sploozers! You're turning into what Adam truly hates, or makes fun of at least.

This whole "Adam & Drew are magic and they need to stay together forever and ever" thing is way overplayed here.

Saying that Adam should permanently weld his broadcasting/comedy career to Drew is like saying that Drew should weld his career as a physician to Adam.

Apples and oranges.

Adam is god. The show would not be the same. He has to take Drew with him though. Like he said he could not carry the show by himself. And Striker sux. I hate it when striker hosts. Adam should either take Drew and the lable of the show with him or pick a replacement. Someone new. Someone he approves of. Because if he tells people he is Ace approved then it would be easier for us to accept him.
